News reports say Ellen DeGeneres has adopted and then given away dogs 9 times before. Does this change your opinion of her?
From the New York Post:
"Kerri Randles says she gave DeGeneres a male mutt named Stormy two years ago, only to find out less than two months later that fickle Ellen had re-gifted him to a member of her staff.
"She may have had it for much less time than that. I only say two months because that's when I called to check on the dog and found out she no longer had it," Randles said. "I was totally shocked. I thought she was out of her mind."
DeGeneres may have passed along several other dogs over the years. Howard Stern said on his Sirius show that he'd heard she had done this nine times before.
Randles said DeGeneres seemed a perfect pet owner at first, but she quickly discovered the daytime TV hostess was "neurotic and crazy."
When Randles took Stormy to NBC studios to meet DeGeneres, she was "drilled" for four hours by the star, her assistants and the crew.
DeGeneres finally decided to keep the dog for a few nights to see if he'd fit into her home. She suggested that Randles take the dressing room next door to "tell the dog privately that she'd be going home with Ellen."

Answered Nope. I have always thought she was wrong to give away the dog.

After the way Anne Heche dumped her you might think she would have had more empathy for other dogs being dumped.

If this really was true we would have heard it somewhere else. Until I hear it from a reliable news source, I'm going to keep on thinking it's a bold-faced lie.

what i never heard of this before if its true then wtf but if its not true then i dont blame her. if its true though they should stop letting her adopt pets in a way cause shes just going to get tired of them and give them away but in a way at least all these dogs are getting homes you know! i dont think shed ever want to hurt a dog though so she probably gave them to people she knew would take care of them.

It's my understanding that rescue organizations visit the homes of potential pet owners before the pet is placed. If Mutts and Moms had visited the home and brought Iggy along prior to placement, they would have been able to observe the interaction between Iggy and the cats - and never placed Iggy there if the interaction was not positive. Did Mutts and Moms actually visit? And isn't Ellen astute enough to know that she should READ a contract before signing?

I do not necessarily believe in the quantity (9) reported. It may have been less but I do believe that she is in the habit of getting dogs under the guise of taking ownership and then giving them away. This is a bad practice, IMO.

Whatever that lady does, is her life, and I dont give one single damn!
It's cool like this, come over to my side and try it out! I care about the environment, and the dystopic ways of people, and how they fuck up this planet more and more every day, who gives a fuck about celebs and their dogs, thats the most un-intelligent thing in this world...
You know what matters in this life?
Other people you meet, and what you make them think of you, thats all.... hands down class.

Answered Yes. Now that I know this isn't an isolated case I think less of her.

Yes! it does I still like her but if after a few months of having a dog she ups and gives it to someone else than besides not wanting to see the dog put down what is her real purpose for getting them in the first place and going through all that drama on her television show that was broadcast all over the country to see if that was some type of act it was not funny.

If it is true, then the adoption agencies should have done a better job in screening her. And she shouldn't go adopting dogs she doesn't plan to raise herself.

Roseanne was right - she treats those poor dogs like she picked up a chair at tag sale and decided she didn't like it. Those are living creatures with feelings!!! She's the poster child of people who SHOULDNT own pets!!!

Not really. At least she is trying to rescue them, even if she gives them away. They are still getting a better home than they had at the shelters and all.

That would be very interesting information if I knew it was true. I'd still side with her though- I'm a loyal fan.

I think she was _right_ to give the dog away. The dog deserved a better home. What she did wrong was give the dog away in the wrong way. I hope after all this publicity no one will give her another dog (or cat, or parakeet).
