Answered Three.

No squabbling over who gets to drive and when...no having to fill the tank after someone else runs it empty..and no stressing over your car getting trashed by anyone other than yourself!

It depends on where you live and who pays for each vehicle.
Also, if public transportation is an option for getting to work/school; that makes a difference.
Need more info on circumstances to make a decision on this.

but that's me being hypocritical. I have 3 myself. 1 88 Pontiac feiro kept in the garage. one 2003 dodge stratus sse, and one 1993 s-10. Though the feiro has kinda been stolen out from under me considering i bought it when i was 15, and my mom took claim to it... even though I paid for it she won't let me have it back. It only has less then 45k mi on it.

lol, yeah I was. Though I found it ironic because I never even got to drive the car. Though it was my fault being 15 and everything the title had to go into her name. Needless to say though the The beast and the harlot are in my name.... Never having that problem again.

Three is reasonable. One for each. Until the major cities in my state get serious about public transportation many people must have a personal car.

Which is your state?
The only place I've been with good public transportation is Boulder/Denver, and they have Kick xxx routes!
