The 60's/50's films provided a solid foundation for the films we have today. I'm not saying they're any better, however we wouldnt be where we are today without them

70s movies to me seemed to make the most impact at least in my eyes, with stylized directing and cinematography getting much more exciting. There seems to be a comeback coming with it recently though with Quentin Tarantino and a lot of others paying homage to directors like Sergio Leone in their camera work and soundtracks.

every era but right now. sure there are some AMAZING recent films (which are ususaly based on a book/movie/etc from the past--like the lord of the rings), but the majority of todays movies are really lame. they lack all traces of good writing. and dont get me started on horror/thriller movies. in decades past, they were intelligent and made you think (psycho) or atleast funny (all slashers) but today its just a show of how much fake gore they can show (no plotline worth speaking of whatsoever).

Some of my favorites come from this era. (i.e. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Clockwork Orange, Star Wars, Amadeus, Beetlejuice, Young Frankenstein, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Princess Bride, etc.)

OMG it has to be the 20s and 30s even the 40s they were all so glam. Young Hollywood should take a look back in time, Nicole Kidmen could fit into that catogory.
