Loyalty is, in my opinion, one of the bedrocks of a relationship. Without it, the relationship is meaningless. Loyalty to your friend and their loyalty to you. You must stand up for each other, if someone makes a disparaging remark about your friend and you know they are wrong, loyalty demands that you defend your friend. By turning your back on that friend, you end the relationship, because you weren't loyal to the friend. -
I agree it is one of the most important things i a relationship, that with out it there would be no trust. I also know that there can be a time, where you have to let friends go. Do to cercumstances like putting you or a loved one in jeperdy. I had such a friend who did this to me, by threatening my sobriety with bringing things around me that should not have been there. I do agree in the long run that to not defend your friend can be concidered being disloyal.

Makes life a little miserable when you are not loyal or don't receive loyalty.
