The Spirit of God~I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. John 14:16
During the lifetime on earth, Christ's presence could experienced only by a small group of people at any given time. Now Christ dwells through the spirit in the heart of all who have received Him as savior and Lord. The apostle Paul wrote, "Do you not know..that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"{1 Cor.3:16} The Holy Spirit is given to every believer-not for a limited time, but forever. If He left us for one moment, we would be in deep trouble, but He doesn't. He is there to give you both the gifts and the power to work for Christ. He is there to give you strength in the moment of temptation. He is there to produce the fruit of love,joy.peace. long suffering kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control' {Gal.5:22-23} you will never have more of the Holy Spirit than you do right now. But will He have more of you? -

I do not believe in divine beings, spirits, souls, nor an afterlife. However, this doesn't mean I can prove that such subjects do not exist. It's possible that they exists, like aliens; however, I have reasons to believe that none are in an existence. Though, at times I question my own belief as I have an open mind to ponder what I may believe is the impossible. -

Not that I would discourage anyone else from believing if they want to, but I don't. I believe that the whole concept of God was invented by man to help explain the unexplainable. Humans have a hard time just accepting things are as they are because they are. -

Yes, I believe in God, and in his Son the Lord Jesus Christ, as the one who died for the sins of the world, and who reconciled and justified Jews and Gentiles before God. Also, we are his kingdom here on earth not because we say we believe in God, but because we believe in his Son and love one another. I here so many people professing that they know him, yet hating their brother that they see every day. Missing the whole point of who God is. God is love, and they that love know him, and those who not love don't know him, I don't care what color you are. If we can't love one another now where are you going to do it. God is telling us that now is the time for us to what is right, and not when we think we are going to some place called heaven. It here that God is looking how we treat each other. God is the God of Hope and Peace, so blessed is the peace makers for "they shall be called the children of God. Just because you go to church, don't mean that you know God. God never trys to prove himself to man, he does'nt have to. Man is nothing but a vapor that appears for a little while and he passes away. He has no power, because once he dies, he needs some one who has the power to raise him from the dead. I only know one man that can do that and that is God.(less) -

How can you not believe in a higher being, we sure didn't create ourselves or make the solar system in such perfect order. God left witness of Himself in everything we behold and enjoy. It is a miracle that the sun rises everyday and that we have food and air and water available everyday. Even our breath is a gift from Him. The Bible says even the heavens declare His handiwork. So we will be without excuse. All He wants is us to acknowledge Him and to love Him as He loves us. He is real and He is hurt when we don't seek to know Him. It is very sad that we don't want to acknowledge Him. -

I suppose I could go into my personal moral compass, but I'll save that for someone else....plus I'm not quite an atheist, so that would change perspectives a bit. I will say this, whether I believe or not, I support your belief in God because it is admirable to a certain degree. I have no need to bash those of faith.

raves +1 Feb 15, 2008 12:36PM GMT (edited)Yeah Beelio well the white bearded guy is NOT from the Bible. God nor Jesus were very described at all as to how they look.
God would be youthful not a white haired old man - SIN has caused aging and those attributes. Isn't that funny? I guess maybe he was trying to portray him with the white hair to make him appear
ALMIGHTY instead of old but can't help but identify it with that.
And the "older' male appearance to represent his wisdom and always having been here...No beginning, no end..-
It IS said we can't look upon him because his power is too great and would harm or kill...like the guy that didnt mind his warnings to NOT touch the ark - and when it went to fall off the carrier, he touched it, and died from too much power serging thru him.
We know Moses saw a "burning bush that was NOT consumed" so again his light = maybe that's what the artist tried to protray and over time we just see it as an old man.
I think he will definitely be very different than that idea from an artist. -
raves Feb 15, 2008 12:52PM GMT (edited)It took me a while to figure this out - but the Bible tells us Satan is the ruler of this word right now... God can't do anything about "it" because he promised us ALL free will. Unfortunately, many choose the evil side of that choice and we have to deal with the results.
The up side to that is - imagine a God with all the power He has, that controlled us - you can't post on that Sodahead place its a waste of time; that woman isnt good enough for you and whatever etc etc - and he would control us...that would suck.
I don't like it either..the bad things that happen. Choices, sin - degradation over the centuries of the human condition causing illness - the chemicals and pesticides they are putting in the food supply is killing us...causing illness. Crooked ppl...
Unfortunately a LOT of ppl have chosen "evil" side of free choice and that causes a LOT of the bad stuff we deal with and God can't stop them (HE COULD PHYSICALLY _) I mean morally/ethically type speaking because he promised free will - that means free will... for everyone..good or bad.
If he went back on his word, what else couldnt we trust?
EVIL is why there is suffering in the world and sin is part of that system. Its what causes aging and dying. We were meant to live forever here; But taking the bad with the good, I have still appreciated and enjoyed my life... -
raves Feb 15, 2008 01:08PM GMTWhere did all this come from? The infinite universe to the human brain...babies and kittens, flowers and sky, air we can breath and trees that help with that issue - order - where did that come from? Isn't that kind of proof there is a creator? Besides those that witnessed Jesus' miracles and all lived long lives after and still were able to independently record what they witnessed from the own povs and they jive? AND answer Old Testament prophecy.
all but one Apostle, I believe, died for their belief in Jesus and who he said He was...for what they believed in and taught.
If no God, how is it 98% (plus by now) of the Bible's prophecies have come 100% true..and the other 2% has started in the Middle East? (a book Jesus taught from and told us to know and follow his teachings) -
