I do not think him a racist. Even if he was back then I still think him the best candidate. The only candidate with an economic policy that does not involve indebting our great-grand children with unpayable debt. The only policy for getting the federal government out of your lives. People haven't just forgotten what it is to be free - they've lost event the desire for it.

And why is it that racists writings 20 years old that aren't even his own are more important than the policies of Democrat and Republican candidates who sell us out at every turn just to stay in power? Give up the racial play - it's getting worn out.

Before any of you begin to speculate, I'm African-American (Black). Yes, I would support a man if in the past said "unfavorable" racial remarks.

Some of you people need to take a history lesson and remember Gov. Wallace (Alabama). He stood in front of Alabama University, in front of the National Guard in defiance against an order to allow Blacks to attend his school. After his unsuccessful run for President, he was shot, a few years later, turned a new leaf, won Gov. Alabama again, and his main supporters were BLACK!

Senator Douglas Bryd was an ex-Klansman and won by 75% Black vote.

Malcom X said that the "White Man is the Devil" and later changed his tone before being assisnated, and now is remarked as being one of the people that fought for equality in Civil Rights.

Is Ron Paul a racist now? We will never know. But if he doesn't hold that same position now, lets focus on what he stands for NOW.

For you religious people out there: Saul (later Paul) persecuted Christians and had them executed. On the road to Damascus, he later became a Christian and was very instrumental in spreading the word of GOD in many countries.
  • raves +1   [-] by ERNEST
ACTUALLY PAUL (SAUL) SPREAD HIS OWN WORD, NOT THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. THAT'S WHY THE JEWS DIDN'T LIKE HIM OR FOLLOW HIS TEACHINGS HE HAD TO TAKE "HIS" NEW TEACHING TO EUROPE AND THE GENTILES. TALK IS CHEAP. WHAT HAS RON PAUL DONE TO SHOW YOU HE HAS CHANGED? ELIJAH MUHAMMAD SAID THAT THE WHITE MAN IS THE DEVIL; BLACKS HAD BEEN AND WERE AND STILL ARE CATCHING HELL HERE IN AMERICA AND EVERYWHERE ELSE, SOLELY BECAUSE OF SKIN COLOR. BUT HE WASN'T TALKING ABOUT EVERY WHITE MAN; JUST THOSE WHO PRACTICED THEIR RACISM ON BLACKS. MALCOM WENT TO THE UNITED NATIONS FIGHTING FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.
  • raves +1   [-] by Smokey
Ernest my brother, I have to respectfully disagree with you. Especially about Paul. He was spreading the "Good News of Jesus Christ," and the salvation for ALL people who follow. I don't want to get into a religious debate because you already have your mind made up in one direction.

I'm an African-American that came from the turbulant late 60s and early 70s. Do me a favor and read what the Nation of Islam says about certain groups of people, including JEWS.

I DON'T HAVE TO I WAS IN THE NATION FOR 30 YEARS. IT SEEMS THAT YOUR MIND IS MADE UP ALSO. YOU SEE YOU DEFEND AND I DEFEND. YOU NEED TO FIND OUT ON YOUR OWN WHY PAUL WAS SO MALIGNED..THERE ARE THING S THAT YOU SEEM TO KNOW; BUT WHERE DID YOU GET THE INFORMATION ? AS I SAID , RACISM AND TREACHERY OF ALL SORTS WERE BEING HEAPED UPON BLACKS JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACKS. THOSE WHO DID THOSE THINGS ARE THE DEVIL........................... AND JERRY YOU SAY THE ONLY TRUTHFUL ONE YOU KNEW IN YOUR LIFETIME WAS REAGAN! NO WONDER YOU SAY WHAT YOU SAY. THERE IS REALLY NOTHING I CAN SAY TO YOU. YOU ARE FAR GONE. HE'S YOUR HERO OF TRUTH? THIS COUNTRY IS NEVER GOING TO GET BETTER. YOU ARE DILLUSIONAL AND MAYBE I AM TOO, WHEN I THINK THAT MEN CAN OVERCOME THIS ONSLAUGHT OF EVIL AND FALSE BELIEFS. UNBELIEVABLE. I PUT THIS ON AND SINCE YOU BLOCKED ME, YOU CHUMP I FEEL NO NEED TO RESPOND TO YOU ANYMORE. THERE WILL BE SOMEONE TO TAKE MY PLACE.
  • raves +1   [-] by Smokey
    Earnest,

I like you, but I still disagree with some of your opinion. At this moment, I don't have the energy or time to debate my position.

    Take care,

    smokey
  • raves +1   [-] by ERNEST
IT'S OK THAT YOU DISAGREE WITH MY OPINION. I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN OPINION POLL; IT GETS PERSONAL SOMETIMES AND VERY HEATED BECAUSE WE ARE ALL NOT THE SAME AND HAVE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES. I REGRET SOME THINGS I SAY AS I AM SURE OTHERS DO. THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS THOUGH. I HAD THE TIME BECAUSE MY SCHOOL SYSTEM CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS. I FOUND SODAHEAD AND WAS CONSUMED AND DISTRAUGHT BY SOME OF THE OPINIONS I READ. I PROBABLY MADE SOME OTHERS DISTRAUGHT ALSO. LIFE GOES ON.
  • raves +1   [-] by Smokey
    Ernest,

Your opinions have NEVER been out of line (with me), and I agree with you about this being an "opinion poll." And trust me, I've said some things that I wished I've could have taken back, especially my predictions. Remember, I'm the one at the start of the NFL season that said my Redskins will make it to the Superbowl. :)

Based upon the fact that Ron Paul diden't say these things I don't think you can hold him accountable for things written by a publisher. This was published 10 years ago if Ron Paul was this type of individual it would have surfaced by now.

I think it's because she's fake - that's just my opinion of course. I just wonder how she could be much different from Billy, who had to take an opinion poll before every speech and used to practice looking sincere in the mirror.

    Sheesh.

I'm disenchanted with them all. The politicians always promote themselves as people who stand firmly on their principles . The only person I can remember in my lifetime that was telling the truth is Reagan. I no longer believe any of them. So I guess I'll vote for the liar who's lie is most appealing to me. What else can one do?
