Can we escape Rap and Hip Hop?
I never purposely listen to it but it's always there. When I watch a movie. When I watch television. When I'm walking down the street. It's freakin everywhere and it drives me loopy.

You've never heard Hip Hop before. This shit being played now is (c)rap. Hip Hop has been removed from the mainstream a long time ago. Rock-n-Roll and Hip Hop are basically the same. They are both anti-establishment, both have tons of attitude, both have great influence on fashion, language, and culture and both can make you want to fight (lol) and both have been criticized as being "noise", "immoral" and "annoying". If it wasn't for Hip Hop Aerosmith would still be dead and stinkin (they admitted that themselves). And if it wasn't for both we would not have The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, System of a down and many others who have been influenced by both genre's of music. Debbie Harry was the first white girl who ever "rapped" on record (Blondie's mega-hit "Rapture") and she took Hip Hop up to CBGB's the infamous downtown New York club that started her career as well as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and many other Punk Rock groups. Four Jewish boys who were aspiring punk rockers from Brooklyn were introduced to Hip Hop in CBGB's and it changed their lives. One of them went by the name of Rick Rubin and the other three became known throughout the world as The Beastie Boys, who were the very first (other than Run-Dmc) to blend Hip Hop with Rock and Roll. Their first Album (License to ILL) united Hip Hop Heads and Rock and Roll fanatics and helped the Globalization of Hip Hop. But Hip Hop is a way of life, something you live while Rap is...

Their first Album (License to ILL) united Hip Hop Heads and Rock and Roll fanatics and helped the Globalization of Hip Hop. But Hip Hop is a way of life, something you live while Rap is just something you do and depending on what you say, determines whether you are just a rapper or a Hip Hopper (some call it B-Boy or B-Girl which originally applied to only break dancers but the term was used to describe anyone who is a Hip Hop follower). Hip Hop is Break dancing, Graffiti art, MCing, DJing, and Spirituality. I don't see that with Lil' Wayne, Souljah Boy, Rick Ross, 50 cent and all these other clowns. Therefore, their shit has nothing to do with Hip Hop despite the powers-that-be that labels them as such. So again I say you have never heard Hip Hop. All you've heard is Rap, period.

Can't stand the crap being played everywhere now, but it's true you would have to be a hermit not to hear it around. I love music of most types, rock, metal, country, just about anything but rap and the new hip hop thats out now.

You know what's sad... that song was on the billboards..... and you call me a looser...
P.S. you got down raved for that. I don't take name calling on any levels. Specially from someone who is trying to defend a topic of which they have no knowledge.
  • raves +1   [-] by Jerry

    Lol, yup
  • raves     [-] by Candi
It's America people and everyone has opinion whether you like it or not. Hip Hop is here and the Billboard charts are proving it. People are complaining so much about Hip Hop but not all Hip Hop is bad. To say you hate it is a strong word. Anyway Hip Hop is popular because of the surburban individuals look at the rap sells and you will see.
  • raves +1   [-] by Wicked (Brutal)
I know it's poplular... and I think it's ignorant and stupid. Thus I hate it. It uses almost no musical talent. I could walk up to any rap artist and ask them If they could give me a A major scale.... and they would prolly just look at me like i'm an idiot.... or have their group of "thugs" shoot me so they could "rap" about it later and make another million so they can buy some rims and make another million for "raping" about that.

Rap is a sad spin-off of what music really is.
    A failed spin-off, I should say.

I listen to a little bit of everything.. I think the reason for r&b and hip hop being every where is because, it is a way for the black comunity to find colture.. I think if you look back to the 90s you will see it growing as we when threw the policly correct stage in america.. it is either the music or reparations take your pick...lol
