•Is the media justified to continually attack Mitt Romney for his religious beliefs?

The media and his rivals seem to think that Mitt's religious beliefs are so important that they bring them up at every turn. Are they correct? Please elaborate!

I'm new to Mitts corner. I have to study his plans for his presidency.I am interested in his plans for the border fence, penilizeing employers employing ileagel emmigrents and all the freebees they get.I also want those two border patrol agents freed from prison and their repetations cleared and get full pay for their time in jail.I do not care that he is a Mormen.I am a Catholic does that make me better then him,I don't think so.

I don't necessarily hear them "attacking" Mitt for his religious beliefs - actually I think Huckabee has gotten the brunt end of that --
Politics is dirty, swampy territory on both sides -- I work in DC 1 block from the White House - right in the middle of the swamp - it aint pretty!

You got that right. Politics is dirty and DC is the middle of the swamp. It would appear that the Mitt Romney religion attacks were more focused in the southern, mid western and western states. In fact, aside from the media, Huckabee has been one of the biggest offenders in this area and even more so in the south. I am surprised that Huckabee has been attacked up there and wish the media would spread the wealth. Isn't Huckabee considered McCain's little (Ross Perot) pit-bull or ace-in-the-back pocket? It almost as if DC is a world of its own. Just curious, is Hillary very popular and how is Mitt Romney viewed in your neck of the woods (I mean swamp)?

Guyver -- to answer your questions from DC/MD's point of view: 1) McCain is viewed as a traitor to Republicans - will not be forgiven for his amnesty bill, untrustworthy, hot tempered - McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy, voting against tax cuts, and yes Huckabee is considered his little Ross Perot ace in the back pocket; however, respected for his service to the country and ability to fight terrorism; 2) Hillary is despised, and not trusted - her own party does not back her (internal party fighting), and they do not want Bill back in the WH with nothing to do (but mischief maybe - they do not want anymore Rose Garden scenes), thus the higher ups of the party publicly backing Obama -- take notice next week - Obama will win Democrat votes in DC and MD; and in VA - 60-40, which will hurt Hillary because Obama already won more states/more delegates; 3) Mitt is well respected by Repub voters and would be their choice for candidate, but seems to be a lot of jealousy within the party about his wealth - the Repub party is very divided right now on what to do about their candidate John McCain
By the way -- I work in the DC swamp, but live in MD suburbs (peaceful : )

The fight goes on now with Huckabee and Paul (I'm sure the party is pressuring them to drop out - of no further use to McCain now -- don't be surprised if Mitt offered a VP spot (McCain not too bright economically, but its Mitts forte)
Well, guess now we know who the Repubs candidate is -- the fight goes on for the Dems candidate... to be continued (for how long, only the candidates know)

Thanks for the update and insight. I feel much better now. I was a bit depressed after Mitt announced his pull out. I am also glad you don't have to live in the swamp. Keep us posted on the buzz. Thanks again

It's typical of the media to steer the SHEEPLE to the way they want them to vote. Why is any focus on Romney's Mormonism while Obama's years spent going to a Muslim school is ignored?
    I have a slogan -
Don't be a sheeple, be a people! Vote for Romney!
  • raves +2   [-] Guyver replied to pitbullmomma raccoonsista!
Right on point and nicely put! I couldn't agree more with you. I really like your terminology and slogan. “Lemmings” is another term I fancy. The media, of course is the head lemming, leading us right to the cliffs edge and over. Welcome and thanks for joining the group. Even though we didn't see the results we would like to have seen from Super Tuesday (I am actually a little depressed today and more disgusted than depressed), we are not out of the game yet. There is still hope and a lot of ground to cover.
  • raves +1   [-] pitbullmomma raccoonsista! replied to Guyver
I actually picked up sheeple from Michael Savage (www.michaelsavage.com). I think it's an apt term for 95% of the population. Lemmings is a good one too.

I'm also disappointed and disgusted by yesterday's results. Did you happen to catch any comment about some shenanigan's going on yesterday by McCain & Huckelberry? There was a brief mention early in the morning and then nothing - I'm not sure what happened but something to do with screwing Romney out of votes.

Romney gave a great speech yesterday. I hope more people start to listen to him. I just heard today on talk radio that some Rep. delegates are planning to boycott McCain. Not sure how true that is.
  • raves +2   [-] Guyver replied to pitbullmomma raccoonsista!
Yes this had to do with a back-door deal between McCain and Huckabee in Virginia. Mitt Romney won Virginia until McCain gave all his delegates to Huckabee. Did this happen in any other place? Who knows but McCain and Huckabee will deny it even though it was exposed and acknowledged in Virginia. Huckabee actually had the gall to claim victory in Virginia on his own merits and the media, of course, let it slide. I would not be surprised if more of this has happened, nor would I put it past Huckabee to be pulling a Ross Perot and staying in the race only to cut Romney out.
  • raves     [-] pitbullmomma raccoonsista! replied to Guyver
That's exactly what I think Huckabee is doing. My feeling is that it's already been decided who's going to be president, and all of these caucuses and primaries and debates are nothing but a show put on for the benefit of the sheeple.

The media are strange and hypocritical. Where are these people (in the media) when Dingy Harry Reid is conducting a press conference? Why aren't they asking him the SAME questions they ask of Romney? Maybe Dingy Harry could help educate the public too since he's a Mormon too!!! Yeah, right!!!!
  • raves     [-] Guyver replied to Herbie
I like it. Point very well made. Maybe selective bigotry? Oh yah, Dingy is one of them and they protect their own! In fact, they love Dingy. He has lots of garbage in the closet and they can control him! Mitt’s a different story. He's clean, no dirt. That means no control and the "terrified" media can be a nasty monster! I think hypocritical may be to kind a term for the likes of the mainsteam media.

Romney has never said or done anything (many other politicians have and do) that would indicate he would run the country from a Mormon stance.

The political demagogues are out in full force spreading their lies and social dependency views. Down with them all, their goals are un-American.

  • raves +2   [-] Guyver replied to highlatte
So true. Great point. Not only is it un-American, it is one of the lowest blows you could take; and the liberals stooped very low for this one.
  • raves +1   [-] highlatte replied to Guyver
I will go kicking and screaming before I idly sit by and watch the left, whether the Dems and Socialists or Republicans masquerading as Republicans take my liberties from me. Good to know there are smart, considerate people like you continuing the ongoing fight for the Constitution, not the expanded version.

I am not sure who is upset about his religion? I'm not sure if it is the christian evangelicals or the amoral left or both. The left is so amoral now nothing is wrong anymore there scared of religion. I will pray for Mitt to win. The media is left they hate any religion with Jesus involved.

    Guyver,

As you can tell i am interested more in immigration issues I origionly was for Tompson,Tancrato, and others who wanted reform on those issues.Mitt was not to strong on those issues, but i hope he will get on board.Mc Cane i do not trust, why did he change from dem to republican and still be a liberal i think if elected he will sell us out. The dems want no border fence and lots of cheap labor and lots of future voters. i'm looking forward to commenting with you,C u.

This would appear to be nothing more than a "politically correct" form of bigotry; it is simply shameful and defamatory at best. Those who have followed my comments know how I feel about “political correctness” and this lynch mob, drunken with bigotry falls on the same plane. This being said, these religious jabs would appear to be the only remotely controversial thing they could come up with for Mitt. Maybe it should be taken as a complement. He has a stellar track record, free from scandal. His vision is clear and well supported. He is one of the only candidates, save Dr. Alan Keyes who has provided a positive road map for the future of America. He is strong and if his strength comes from his religious convictions, so be it. Mitt should be praised and heralded, not condemned, for these very convictions and for what they have produced and driven. The fruit does not fall far from the tree and a bad tree can never produce good fruit. Additionally, the media would like us to think that the Reagan Conservatives simply do not exist or that the Republican Party has changed. I disagree. Nice try.
