1951 Disney's Goofy cartoon - Do you think this cartoon inspired kids to smoke?
I love all the old school Disney cartoons. But this one has grabbed my attention. Watch it and give your 2 cents!-
Answered Hmm??? I think:
therefore, I don't.
watching the whole cartoon, you can see the foolishness of addiction. I and my brothers watched the early Disney cartoons constantly. Walt Disney always showed the force and the power of Responsibility and the results of Irresponsibility.
Some may challenge the approaches he used, but he was real. -
Answered Of course it did! Forget Camel Joe, Goofy makes me want to smoke!
It made me want a smoke!
but yeah seriously they talk about all of the enjoyment that one gets out of smoking, then they show goofy try to quit and he cant because its "so good" at least thats my impression.
If a kid saw this they would probably think smoking was very cool and relaxing like portrayed in the cartoon... they made it look very enjoyable in the cartooniest way possible..
and yeah he totally asked that last guy for some weed man! -
Answered Hmm??? I think:
That's kinda odd...
But you have to remember: There was more freedom of what could be put on TV back then rather than nowadays. They didn't restrict cigarette ads or cartoons like such.
This cartoon could be taking either way: showing kids how addicting smoking is and how bad it is for you, or encouraging them to do it. -

Answered Heck no! This is an educational cartoon that teaches kids about nicotine addiction.
Please, kids know better and a cartoon isn't going to convince them to start smoking.
