I know how severely migraine headaches can affect people. I've read many "remedies" and treatments and it seems that nobody has the perfect cure. Do you get migraines? Do you treat them effectively?

I finally found a medicine that took my migraines away and stopped the nausea within 45 minutes, and they didn't come back after the medicine wore off! It was so wonderful! The medicine is called Maxalt. It melts under your tongue..I started getting severe migraines at the age of 15. At first, I felt very miserable, but put up with the pain. When I was 37, I moved to America, and married an Arkansan. He also suffered from migraines. We started taking 4 200mg tablets of Ibuprofen for the pain, and 1 or 2 Dramamines for the nausea. That worked very well for many years, untill I was 47, then my doctor prescribed Maxalt, and that was the answer to our problem. By the time I was 51, my migraines stopped. I had long ago realized that my migraines were caused by hormonal swings. But, recently, I began making little mistakes at work, forgetting a few things, and could not multi-task anymore. I got all checked out, with MRI's, and then a psychoneurological test was done. The results of this all day testing, showed that I now have right sided hemisphere damage, from long term migraines, damaging the veins on the right side of my brain. That is the side that all of my pain was. Now, at age 55, I am being forced to go on disability, and probably retire early. Don't let this happen to you guys. -

My first line remedy is dark chocolate. Amazingly, this would seem to help things. I've been told that it can help re balance the brain chemistry that leads to the migraine in the first place. If that doesn't help though, I go for Excedrin Migraine. That's worked for me so far. -

There are times that it feels as if my scalp is the only thing holding my skull together. I tested for food allergies, environmental etc, nothing. There is no home remedy that is a quick fix, but lots of caffiene, and ibuprofen with codiene keeps a 'migraine wanna be' into becoming a full blown one.. most of the time.
