Did Prince Harry make the right decision to fight in Afghanistan?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html...

"Prince Harry has fulfilled his dream of serving his country, fighting the Taliban on the front line in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence confirmed today.

The 23-year-old Household Cavalry officer has spent the past 10 weeks secretly serving in war-ravaged Helmand Province and was there over Christmas. He dropped his first bombs on New Year's Eve.

The Prince dismissed fears that he will be a "bullet magnet", swore he does not miss "anything", said he believed his mother was proud of him - and made no reference to girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Despite being third in line to the throne, the prince was allowed to operate within sight of enemy positions, calling in air strikes and carrying out aerial surveillance of Taliban trenches and bunker systems."

of course he is right, monarchy used to fight and die for their country, it's an honor

ROFL could you imagine Bush on the frontline LOL he would get lost in a child's sand pit

The man is middle aged....give him a freaking break!!! When he was younger he did serve in the armed forces, unlike Clinton who ran with his tail between his legs!

  • raves   -3 [-] Sarge replied to Alexis
LMAO...Bush served. Hardly. The only thing Bush flew was a desk until the real orders came. Then dear ol daddy Bush, then director of the CIA, pulled a few strings and Dubya went missing after that.

You people give me a pain in the butt. George Bush served in the Nation Guard, which half our troops are right now. Bill Clinton got a pass because he was in college, and then went to Russia. If you are judging a man's worth by military service then John McCain should win easlily. I also get ticked at people who never serve, putting down people who do. My Father and Father in law both did 2 1/2 years in WWII. My brother, and brother in law, along with other members of my family served during Viet Nam. My cousin's sons were in Iraq. So until you have served or have had someone serve, don't complain. Freedom in this country isn't free. It has to be fought for every day. This is the one of only a few countries where you can talk about your leaders with such dis-respect, and not be killed or jailed.
  • raves +3   [-] Alexis replied to Plantgypc "Raccoon"
My family served in WWI, several uncles served in WWII, one uncle on Normandy Beach on D Day who could never talk about the experience because it was such a blood bath. I also had a cousin who was a Dr that served in Viet Nam. You are right....many people have made sacrifices and I am thankful for each and every one of them.

National guard, and saw no action big deal, he may as well be wearing a halloween costume
  • raves +1 -1 [-] Alexis replied to Marc
Nevertheless, he could have seen action like the Guard is now...and there was no way of telling what would happen back then. The point is that he served, unlike Willie the Weenie who ran the other way.

Used to. Now its about keeping power. He's third in line. His grandmother, dad and older brother has to kicked the bucket before he could ascend to the throne. He's expendable for now. He did not go there for glory, honor, and country. He went because he is bored of being the other/younger prince.

I am very impressed with Harry. He could have played at being a soldier like Bush, instead, he acted like on of the guys and did a great job. Matt Drudge should be ashamed of himself for bringing it out. Harry could have been killed because of Drudge's lack of care.

I know it's what he wanted to do. However, to me it's only a good decision because he didn't get hurt. Did you see the interview where he answered a question of did you miss the booze before it was asked? It was funny!

His Mom would be proud of him. He did something very honorable! On Rosie O'Donnell's blog, she cuts him down for doing it, which is disgusting on her part!
