Another movie in the recent series of 'enviro-documentaries' by well-known celebrities. This time by Joaquin Phoenix with a twist.
Should industry be allowed to exploit animals in addition to the environment/nature ?
From www.isawearthlings.com :
'Narrated by Academy Award Nominee Joaquin Phoenix and featuring music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby, EARTHLINGS is a documentary film about humankind's complete economic dependence on animals raised for pets, food, clothing, entertainment and scientific research. Using hidden cameras and never-before-seen footage, EARTHLINGS chronicles the day-to-day practices of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit. Powerful, informative, controversial and thought-provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary ever produced on the correlation between nature, animals and human economic interests'

I believe if mankind survives another 1000 years, our society will be looked upon as barbarians for eating meat. I am not a PETA freak, however, I DO feel the method being used today to raise animals for food is absolutely disgusting. The way these animals are kept before slaughter is appalling, and it should NOT be allowed.
Just because animals do not talk, and do not have the intelligence level of humans, does not negate the fact that they are living beings, who are entitled to their lives as much as any other living thing, including humans.
Homework? I haven't seen this movie, if that's what you mean. But I don't need to see a movie to recognize that animals on this planet are exploited horribly, and those who participate in the torture and abuse of these animals are insensitive and uncaring, and the world would be a better place without them. Exterminate them, and leave the animals alone.

Animals are the last thing on my mind but that doesn't mean I want to see any abused but I have no issue with them being used in moivies. There's some positive movies that use animals and positive messages that come through movies that use animals and most of the time, the animals in movies live a better life than me.btw....do my home work? On what? You either care or you don't. Or you belong to Peta and that's a problem in it's self. ;-)
