It's all a bunch of Al Gore hot air!

There's been an awful lot of snow across the country for it being so hot! LOL

Absolutely. It's slicker and much less informative. Background for an airport terminal at best.

Where I am (north-west England) we had temperatures in the 60s for a whole week in February. We've had maybe half a dozen days over the entire winter where the temperature's gone to freezing. This is definitely very, very wrong.

I like the diversity of opinion on serious issues. It helps us fully investigate and debunk any myths. If Global Warming exists because of man's actions and poses as big a threat as Al Gore describes (apocalypse) then we need to address it If not, then we shouldn't change the entire world's economy as we have started to. Let's thoroughly examine this because the consequences of taking the wrong actions pose gigantic dangers.

What if the business as usual approach is precisely the wrong action? Global catastrophe or economic inconvenience? What is the most prudent path forward? That is the real question.
  • raves +2   [-] by Fef
I wouldn't call it "inconvenience" when people starve and die. We have to weigh the costs and benefits and not overreact.

Changing fuels to corn-based ethanol raised the price of food so high that it could (and may have) lead to some deaths in poverty stricken countries.

Eliminating DDT from usage (not Global Warming related, but an example of overreaction) has lead to the deaths of millions of Africans because of malaria and mosquito borne diseases that DDT could have prevented.

Looking at the temperature cycles and solar activity alignment, this current elevation in temperatures is due to the sun and not due to human intervention. I do agree that we should certainly clean up our planet and think more about that... but global warming on Earth, is no different that what we are seeing on Mars right now... same timing, same rate. We have gone through global warming and cooling a lot over the last 5,000 years... even in the last 1000 years we have had some pretty dramatic cycles, more so that we are seeing now. Mars, other that Kucinich types, has very few humans there to create global warming. Stop following the stupid science and false claims of Al Gore, he has lied before... he said he invented the internet? That was done by US Navy engineers in the early 1960's. John Coleman the creator of the Weather Channel and a scientist with great pedigree is considering suing Al Gore for his false claims and hype about this. He should! Al Gore is a hypocrite... with his non-green private jet and incredible mansion...

I agree with most of what you have to say. I know that it is annoying that he is polluting with his jet. But I do think that the evidence is there to suppose the global warming issue. There is not reason humanity cant stop its contribution to it.

    yess.
when people say things arent real when its right in front of our faces is ridiculous. global warming and the holocaust being the top two things i could argue about forever.

because they are, and forever will be, real.

Well, global warming could exist, and it's possible. But the thing is the Earth goes through weird times. I mean look at the Ice Age.....and when the Dinosaurs were around, everything was humid, then the Ice Age came and now it's like this. It could be changing again.

    Sounds kinda stupid don't it?
  • raves +1   [-] by chacha
Don't it kinda sound like Global Warming? The difference is mans intervention, rather than the gradual pace of mother nature.
  • raves +1   [-] by JESTER576
Well to me it sounds liek the Earth. Grant it, we have fucked up. And Global Warming will take a effect, but it's going to take a while. I mean everyone is acting like the Earth hasn't changed climates before. It has and obviously it will, or is doing it again.
  • raves +1   [-] by chacha
You are granting that Global Warming will take effect, but because "it's going to take awhile", then it doen'st exist... or that we shouldn't be concerned about it.. ?

We are the stewards of the EARTH... part of it... not independent actors.

Absolutely, watch the film from Al Gore. An inconvenient truth! It really hits home as long as you are ready to face reality and make companies in the USA abide and be earth friendly! I am sick of companies not caring about the Earth and just want to make a profit.

  • raves +2 -2 [-] by xcassieeex
i watched that in science this year.

i didnt really like the thing about polar bears drowning because of the melted ice caps and not having anywhere to get out of the water.

    even though its all true.
  • raves +3   [-] by Duck
clean up the environment, but don't tell me we are burning up our planet... he is patently wrong on why it is warming now... in the 60s there was a lot of hype about global cooling.... remember? Al Gore is an idiot, or at least in this arena.
  • raves     [-] by csherm
I like your views and if you want to expand on this issue go for it!

God love all of you gullible mooks. The earth has been warming and cooling for billions of years. It is only through your own egos that you could possible believe that humanity could force a change in the cycle of this planet. Please throw all of your assertions at me, so i can shoot them down one at a time. Then and only then will you people actually start to read books that deal with this and not watch movies that are about as factual as Micheal Moore's documentaries.

I watched the movie and I was with a friend who was so afraid after watching it. The whole time I was thinking of him and Tipper at the MTV awards in the 90's, made me laugh. He is a joke really. Does he really have a passion for this subject or is he a mere spokes person? where is his motivation? Is it his ticket to fame? Him to the side, the movie is good introspection but not the sole resource on this matter.
