    Apparently one of my relatives, was in the car when Kennedy was shot in Dallas, and the bullet went through Kennedy and into him. And John Ritter was my mom's cousin. Lol not an exciting story, but thats all i've heard so far..

    My family all come from convict stock, but the best (and saddest) story I have is that my great great great great Grandfather on my mothers fathers side, was put into a prison ship docked in London, for stealing a pair of boots. He was only supposed to be serving a five day sentence, but the ship was one of those chosen to sail to Australia. He actually finished his prison term a few days into the journey, but had to continue on to Australia anyway. So he was put to work on the ship, and paid a wage (along with a lot of other poor saps who had the same thing happen to them). Once here, he was deemed a 'free settler' and the rest is history.

    My great great great uncle (maybe more x great, I'm not sure) was a spy in the Civil war, he was caught and then let go because he was so young at the time, about 12 or so. I don't remember his name, but there's an obscure book that was written about him. On my father's side, we're directly related to Robert the Bruce.

    My dutch ancestors were slave traders, my Scottish ancestors were related to Mary Queen of Scots and Sir Walter Scott Riley. No stories, just facts.

    When I started skydiving my mother wondered what the hell possesed me to something adventurous (dangerous) like that. That was nothing that ran in the family, she said.

    I think she forgot about her own father whom, at the age of 16 went at sea on a sailing ship and stayed away from home for over 2 years. About the most adventurous thing you could do back then.

    And she and my father hitch hiked around Europe as a young couple right after WW2 when the continent was in ruins. I would think that was quite adventurous too.

    Another thing that might explain my confusion is that my ancestors on my fathers side are mainly farmers. Rooted people.
    And on my mothers side they're almost all sailors. Travellers. So I'm a bit torn, don't know wich foot to stand on, really.

    "Should I stay or should I go?"

    I am a direct descendant, on both sides of the following;

    1. Founders of Georgetown; Mom's side.
    2. John Ross; Essentially, he was 1/8th Cherokee and he led the Cherokee Indians, from their exile, on what is known as the "Trail of Tears" to Oklahoma. What is now known as Chattanooga, TN, was founded by Mr. Ross and was once called "Rossville". ; Dad's side.
    3. Our Scottish/Irish background is still being investigated, however, we recently were able to trace my husbands Scottish lineage back to Robert I The King of Scots, a.k.a. Robert the Bruce in modern English terms. He is the King who led the war to free the Scots from England and claim their independence. They once thought the lineage was to the right hand man of Robert I, but have since found out, that there is direct lineage to Robert I on his dad's side.
