A Mesa Arizona teenager who admitted to killing his father last month has given authorities an odd explanation. "He banned me from myspace. And I need my myspace. I hate my dad and I just couldn't take it anymore," he said, according to the report. Hughstan Schlicker, 15, called 911 on Feb. 6 and told the dispatcher he had just shot his father in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun. The teen who had displayed suicidal tendancys would go on myspace for up to 10 hours a day, posting death threats upon himself and others. So, who is to blame.

Definitely, it's him... Children his age should go out and play football or basketball or have whatever hobby besides sitting in front of the PC or TV 24/7...
I was born in 1988 and we're also a generation influenced by the technological revolution but I certainly didn't spend all my time in front of the PC and I still don't although I confess my life is somehow dependent on the Internet, the various new technologies, etc. -
Answered The Dad. He should have known better than to have a suicidal son.
I don't really know who is to blame here. But his father should have taken steps to alert the authorities and sought help for his son. This is a difficult thing to do because no one wants to believe that a child is capable of such an action until it is too late as in this case. But the truth is it is up to the parent to take action to get the child help before it is too late. When all else fails put a foot in his ________ and let him know who is the parent. all to offen we are afraid of our kids. This kid needed real psychatric help. Please do understand I am in no way excusing this little sicko for his actions. I just wish something could have been done a lot sooner.
I hope the kid goes to jail and not to a psychatric facility because he is beyond help now. -

I almost couldn't believe this when i read it.
Kids fault of course, he knew what he did.
But still, the thought that this kid truly believed that myspace was more important than his fathers life completely baffles me.
Wow.
Then again, his fathers should have noticed something terribly wrong with his myspace ADDICTED kid, though he didn't have to die for not noticing.
And by the way myspace kinda sucks. -

I think the teenager is responsible, they should have more self control over themselves.
Theres waaay more to life than the internet.
I don't really think the blame has anything to do with myspace,
it wasn't made for people to kill themselves and others.

parents should always keep an eye on his kid. he just used myspace as an excuse for something greater. NOW that he's dead, you can't tell that to the parent. that'll just make him feel worse. -

Its the fucking teenagers fault, I have myspace and yes it is addictive and can be fun, But i would never post death threats, or kill my dad because he wouldn't let me use it. That is just so unnecessary and a cruel thing to do. Some teenagers need to think before they act.!! -

The teenager. He already posted death threats about himself and others. And myspace is not really that safe. It's the father's house and I'm sure he had a good reason not to let his son on the computer/myspace. -

Last i knew, humans were responsible for their own actions. I thinks that's the whole reason we have a "justice" system...to handle people and their choices, isn't it. (besides creating jobs and feeding power-control freak desires...lol) -

This tragedy really saddens me. I believe someone could have taken actions to prevent this horrible crime. But I have to blame the teenager for committing the crime. He may have had problems with his dad, but murdering him only created more problems for this child. At 15 years old, a person knows the difference between right/wrong and murder vs calling for help. He chose to murder.
I've dealt with hundreds of crimes and safety issues for parents/children on MySpace. Parents, schools, politicians and law enforcement need to better understand the influence of online communities on children's lives.
