If you are passionately behind a certain candidate, do you think you will be able to give another person a "fair shot" at the job if they win?

I have seen so many people on this site become almost vicious about their views. If this is representative of Americans in general, do we still have hope of uniting behind a new leader?

I keep an open mind. I may be behind a canidate but there are no sure thing saying that the person I am voting for will be the best. I am willing to give them a chance because no matter what they will be our President for the next four years,

it will be difficult, but the best way to win over Americans is with honesty and being forthcoming. Whoever wins has the possibility to look like the best thing since sliced bread compared to their predecessor (no offense the GB supporters...but his approval rating speaks for itself though).

I never liked Bush but I believe I gave him a fair shot. After 9-11 when we went into Afghanistan after Bin Laden and al-Qaida I supported him 100%. When he decided to let them slip out the back door and invade Iraq instead, he blew it.

Yes, and in this modern day when words spread like wild fire through the internet, cellphones, etc. that new President better not fail the People, He/she will be watched and scrutinized, right, left and center... as if being studied under a microscope. This is a nation with increasing number of very unhappy people who have lost jobs, homes, and lesser able to handle their day-to-day survival. The next President, with empty promises, will have a harder time, than GWB, in facing the American public. And I believe that the American Public won't be very tolerant to the Party that pushes a sheer Puppet/Clown into the White House.

If I don't believe in them now, I don't see how winning is going to make me believe in them then!

I have definite views about the candidates, but the one who wins gets my total support.
