I'm dating someone almost 2 years older than me at the moment, and although we both care for each other very much, the age difference is turning out to be a problem. I'm still in high school, and he's leaving for the navy soon.

Two years is ok for most situations when your a teenager. 13 to 15, 16 to 18 and so on. That seems plausible to me, I'm a teacher and have seen worse. Two years does not seem terribly bad.

    I agree

I think 1 is not enough for some people but 3 is a little to much and 4 years is the diffrence between an 8th grader and a Senior in highschool and thats way to much.

one of the things that concerns me about young people dating is the maturity level of the people involved. i think youre better off dating from among your peers rather than somebody that is substantially older than yourself, so you dont get taken advantage of by guys that are in it strictly for the possibility of sex...

Well...lol..my husband is 5 years older than I am. When we met I was 15 and he was 19, about to turn 20, and NOW I realize that he was way to old for me lol but we've been together for 6 years, and back then it didn't really feel like any age difference...I would probably have a problem with my daughter dating a guy that much older than her

Doesn't really matter except when thinking about dying. Each is going to have problems, But except for your inner circle who is really going to leave their shell to even notice or comment? People are too tied up into "me" to worry long about anything like that.

I wasn't worried about what people would think of me rather would it be the right choice.
  • raves     [-] Denny replied to Funtastic
That was kind of my point. It's up to you. In any relationship there is so much that is needed. Love of course but even more, to me, is friendship. loyality, what else (sounds like a badge for scouting). If you're mature enough to see these things and many aren't that still make it together. point is, it's happened before.

Teens should not *date*. I mean sure as a group of friends go out and enjoy a wholesome movie or go to the United Dairy Farmers for a soda or an ice cream. Church dances too but as a individual boy/girl date? No. They need to mature as individuals, become adults, look to service in church and then as they finish their education they can start seeking a propeer decent mate.

I highly disagree. Where do u come from?

Wait till you are older. My daughter couldn't date until she was 16 - and then it was only double dates allowed. When you're younger than 18 and the boy is older than 18, there are serious legal problems that could develop. BTW. She is now 18 and has had a boyfriend (the same age) for about half a year now.

Wait untill your older to date? I dont think so. Most of the girls my age have already had sex. I think that we are past the whole wait untill your 16 to date thing. But thanks for your imput

Pity damaged goods, fatherless children, and poverty. Choose the right and dust off your past and strive hard to be a person. God can forgive sins of ignorance and you could have a bright blessed future.
  • raves     [-] Dave Sawyer replied to Funtastic
If "most of the girls' your age have already had sex, you are in the wrong crowd. It's the "all my frieds do it, why can't I" line, and I've heard it a lot, but it's basically a lie. I and other here seem to care more about your future than you do.
  • raves     [-] Funtastic replied to Dave Sawyer
Im not saying i want to..it just that i want to date and i feel it should be alright
  • raves     [-] Dave Sawyer replied to Funtastic
