Rising gas prices and an exploding world population are some factors working to drive up the cost of food and creating shortages in some areas. How are you coping?

Tell us all how rising food costs -- from milk to meat -- are affecting you and your food choices. Show us what food prices are like in your neighborhood and local markets. Open up and give us a taste of how you're dealing with higher food costs.

I'm more concerned with the environmental and social impact of our industrialized food system than I am with cost. But I do grow my own fruit, vegetables and herbs and regularly visit farmer's markets to minimize the impact. In the short run, this probably ends up costing me more, in the long run, the local food supply might be less of a luxury than it is a necessity.

I've been worried about gas and food since the cost of gas went over 2$ a gallon, So like ive said before, I bought a nice bike, (not motorcycle,) actual bike, and its what i use to go where i need to go, also gives me great exercise,
on the food aspect Its beyond ridiculous , but if you want to eat, you do what you have to, hence why since my husband found out I had a green thumb ive been growing all of the basic veggies, and he coughs up the cost of meat,.

I am eating out less and driving less. I'll cut back so I get screwed less. But it's getting ridiculous.

i am currently working at a local organic farm in trade for produce.
i clip coupons and watch sales... buy in bulk when it's more cost effective and have cut out most meat from my diet. if this doesn't work i'll be "dieting" OR going back to mac n cheese/roman noodles again!!!

Answered i'm back to mac n cheese or top roman again since i can't afford anything else.

I pick returnable cans out of the trash and beg for money on the corner. I recently found that dandelions and lawn grass are edible a quite nutricious.

you neglect to mention that food is being corproatized. GMO' (genetic Modified Organism) are crossbreeding with natural foods, The companies then sue the farmer who's crop they had infected, (crazy but when you have lawyers I guess) and that farmer takes major hits as to what he can do, that crop must be destroyed) They are now working on a crop that can not reproduce, so that others will not be able to gain from their findings.
your food isn't naturally getting overused, it's being controlled, and used to control you, your money, and your future, Grow your own and let people hunt.

I'm supporting the political candidate that will add to my misery! As stated by Winston Churchill....· "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. "
