Trinity Church is building Rev. Wright, a 10,000-plus sq. ft. new house for a million dollars, in a golf course community. How does this reflect on him, his church, and their mission statement?
Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who retired from Trinity United Church of Christ last month, purchased the land in 2004 for $345,000, according to property records reviewed by The Associated Press and the Chicago Tribune. He sold the land to the church two years later, which took out a $1.6 million mortgage on the property and is now listed as the land owner. http://cbs2chicago.com/local/trinity.wright.home.2.687577.htmlTrinity United Church of Christ is building Barack Obama's controversial former pastor a million-dollar Tinley Park home complete with an elevator, whirlpool, butler's pantry, circular driveway and four-car garage, building plans show. The four-bedroom home being built for the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is in the Odyssey Club neighborhood, which boasts some of Tinley Park's largest homes and a mix of town homes. It backs up to the Odyssey Country Club and golf course.--Sun Times http://www.suntimes.com/business/867629,CST-NWS-wright29.article
Is this the SAME Rev. Wright PREACHING about "white greed"?
In one sermon in October 2005, Rev. Wright addressed the racial elements at play in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. “The winds of Katrina blew the cover off America. The hurricane exposed the hypocrisy,” Rev. Wright said, “protecting white folks’ property took priority over saving black folks’ lives.” He continued, “This storm called Katrina says far more about a racist government than it does about the wrath of God.” - http://sweetness-light.com/archive/2-more-anti-us-clips-from-...
And what about the "Disavowal of Middleclassness"- #8 of the "black values" that Obama read about in a church flyer when he first met Rev. Wright?:
From Obama's book written 12 yrs ago:
"There was one particular passage in Trinity’s brochure that stood out, though, a commandment more self-conscious in its tone, requiring greater elaboration. “A Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness,” the heading read. “While it is permissible to chase ‘middleincomeness’ with all our might,” the text stated, those blessed with the talent or good fortune to achieve success in the American mainstream must avoid the “psychological entrapment of Black ‘middleclassness’ that hypnotizes the successful brother or sister into believing they are better than the rest and teaches them to think in terms of ‘we’ and ‘they’ instead of ‘US’!” (Obama’s first autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” pp 131-6: http://sweetness-light.com/archive/barack-obama-on-meeting-mi...
Is that what people who are in the Middle Class think???? Is that what people in the middleclass who are black think?
Obama donated $27,500 to Trinity in 2006. Isn't it great to know Obama's tax deduction, is being well spent. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obamatax...

Their disrespect toward the middle class is obvious...Wright skipped over being middle class, which is what most "successful" ministers are, they don't make too much usually, but Wright goes on past that and right to upper class. It fits their mindset perfectly. They so scorn the middle class, they are seeing to it that Wright isn't stuck in the horror that is "being middle class". Kind of insulting, and stupid since all his neighbors now are "those evil rich white folks" he always talks about. Weird he woud choose to live with them, and not in his neighborhood he cares so deeply about....or does he? I think he pretty much crapped all over his church, the members and Obama by putting on the show he did. It reflected poorly on all of them. -

This is just totally unbelieveable that any Church would buy their Rev. Pastor whomever a home of this amount the money should go towards the poor and homeless. This is unreal and a disgrace Hey I 'd like my church to buy me a home just alttle 2 bedroom I wonder if Trinity could help me ..Well Oprah went to the same Church also and known Obama for along time so know wonder she is investing her money... -

the thing is that obama claims his minister had to struggle when nothing is further from the truth. he grew up in a good neighborhood in phila. and went to a great high school where you had to be pretty smart to get in. he was not an under priveleged kid. i have found that all these ministers live better than the people they have in their churches. why does the minister have such expensive clothes and a million dollar house?shouldn't he live less well than the parishioners?churches are big moneymakers for these guys, all you have to do is rant and rave

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright has been famous ever since the Clinton's called him to the White House for counseling following the Monica Lewinsky incident. The Clinton's made Rev. Wright famous.
So keep bringing up Reverend Wright, okay Janet? -

When I first found out about Obama and the Rev. Wright connection, I had negative thoughts about them both. The more I learn about Wright, my feelings about him and that church and the teachings makes me feel more disgusted with Obama and the people that support him. This is one more reason to not want Obama to win the Dem nomination. I see where Obama and Michelle have gotten their elitist attitudes too. -

It smacks of hypocrisy at its highest level!! Here is a man who supposedely has spent a lifetime helping the poor, pretending to be one of them, only we are finding out he was from a privileged family living in the suburbs of Chicago. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being born in privilege and helping those who in need, but it is hypocritical to pretend to be one of them, while leaving in retirement in a million dollar home! -

His supporters put him there, this is big business and if they can fool the people out of their hard earned money, well this is it. This is similar to how our government works. TAKE TAKE TAKE !!! -

This is the man who HATES the middleclass. What nerve.
Also some additional information. I find this very disturbing.
In addition to the money coming in from Katrina cash donations, Jeremiah Wright's ex-wife was put in charge of the multi-million dollar TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST CHILD CARE CENTERS, INCORPORATED on 1/18/2008, just as Reverend Jeremiah is heading out the door to his new million dollar home paid for by TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST of which HE is still the registered agent and controls the purse strings and the checking account.
Also I have to ask how can the TUCC keep their tax free status and keep accepting government funds in the millions when The Trinity United Church of Christ was having an "Opt Out" Policy meeting for Chicago area schools to keep military recruiters out of public schools.
I strongly feel it is time this Church and its ex?pastor be fully investigated. -

I am so embarrassed for all who are involved in this foolishness.
Would someone please tell me whatever happened to HONOR, MORALITY and VALUES in this country???
Too many people use the name of God in vain, and for personal gain. What I think is inconsequential, as compared to who will make the final judgement call.
For any fellow Christians out there....pray for these people, as I fear they will need it. -

It looks Very badly of course, and in a white neighborhood? How hypocritical! It should be in Africa Somewhere. That is the Dream is it not? Live it, some where else. . . The house does not make the man, it only paints him as what he wants to be. . .
He and Obama both are so superficial, and greedy, and hypocritical and dishonest.
Oh wait, is Obama runing for President? Egads! -

Answered Undecided
That is the most outrageous story ever. How can he take money from the needed? He should give back to the people. I can't imagine a house like that. He spent some money on clothes too, Look at the clothes he wears in church. Did his negative sermons cost that much? Wow! God did answer his prayers. He got what he wanted and more. -
raves +10 Apr 17, 2008 04:51AM GMTNo kidding!!! So much for worrying about the sick and the poor hey? What a hypocrite. After hearing so many of his sermon clips, you'd think the man would be living modestly, stretching Trinity's collections to touch every starving child. We see where his priorities are. Set fire to the world and then go retire in your comfy mansion in an exclusive community.

Sounds like he takes from the poor and gives to himself much like Obama received his house and land.
