The only reason I say yes is because I think we should abolish all death penalties and have the Government have them sent to me and I'll start alittle club. And in this little club WE THE PEOPLE will decide how to best put them to death. And all would be welcome to join. And after maybe a year, two tops I can bet that me and my little club will have criminals scared so shit less that nobody will ever commit a crime again. HAHAHA. The sad part is, is that that almost sounds like a "Hostel" thing. But it would only be those who deserve it.

If you steal - Take your hand off
If you rape - Cut you privates out (not just off... OUT)
If you Murder - Kill in the same fashion as which you killed

just to throw a few examples out there

I believe, and always have, that the death penalty is wrong.

Those on death row should be limited to the number of appeals; then put to death to save wasted money on a lost cause.

Most of the same drugs that are used thousands of times a day in surgery are used. Having had surgery and been knock out, need to know where you thing the pains is if that's your issue. If not are you really asking is the death penalty right? Well that's whole new question.

Here are the countries that executed people in 2007 - Afganistan, America, Bangladesh, Belarus, Botswana, China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kuwait, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singpore, Somaalia, Sudan, Syria and Yeman. That's all, and this is the company we keep.

NO way should it be against the law. The prisoners get more consideration than they gave to their victems. Why should they be given special treatment. They have taken anothers life. They forfit their life for that. We need to crack down. There are too many out there that think they literaly can get away with murder because they see these guys hangin on for years spending the peoples money to house and feed them, to have representation for them. It is a crock. The executions should take place with in a year of them being found guilty. They say the prisons are over crowded and broke well start doing your job and nail these guys. It will cut costs and give more room. Maybe these stupid kids will start to think twice before doing the aweful crimes they are commiting these days.

You sound like a good Christian. Just remember that the "M" in Christianity stands for MORALITY.
  • raves     [-] by Darling of Ville
It doesn't actually cut costs simply because lethal injection is statistically more expensive than serving life in jail.
  • raves     [-] by lady bear
does those costs include the cost of his care until the injection, or all the apeals that they go through?
  • raves     [-] by Darling of Ville
Some estimates include those costs, others don't. However, looking at the statistics for both, it still costs far more to lethally inject than it does to keep them in prison currently. There are doctors who have to stand on the side waiting until they are needed, which costs a ton of money considering how little and how infrequent we use the capital punishment sentence.

maybe the solution is to use it more. Like I have said before put a limit to all the appeals. Now a days with dna and all there is a much smaller chance of it being the wrong person. not that it won't still happen but it is time we stopped coddling these prisoners.
  • raves     [-] by Darling of Ville
I'm against the death penalty either way, but I see the value in the solutions you provide. If only it was that easy though.

What choice did they give their victims? A needle or be shot, stabbed, beaten, strangled or drowned? Why waste three needles, you only need the one that stops the heart.

They would suffer more in a maximum security prison..death would be a form of escape for them...plus there's always the chance that someone was wrongly convicted of a crime and is actually innocent, if this person is given the lethal injection before proven innocent, it would be tragic! and that has happened before!

Lethal Injection should be outlawed. We should put prisoners to death the same way Michael Vick got rid of the dogs.

Well its murder so technically anyone giving the injection should go to jail or have it done to them but that would obviously whipe us all out. Prisons are too cramped anyway. I'm not sure what else they could do.

Not necessarily an eye for an eye reason though. Mostly just to rid society of these animals. In my view, if you act like an animal, you should be treated like an animal.

Lethal injection is TOO humane... you go to sleep with the Pentothal before the potassium puts your heart into a lethal arrythmia and the muscle paralytic doesn't allow you to breathe. I prefer stoning or firing squad.

I cant believe people arent more aware of just how much it costs to keep someone in prison.

Roughly, inmates initially cost about $90+/day until they are placed in their permanent housing facility.
After placed in final setting, about $45/day.

Average person sent to death is about 35 years old.
Average life span in prison is about 60-65 years of age.
Meaning, by the time this person serves a life sentence he will have costed our tax dollars $383,000+.
Excluding 30+ years of dental care, health care, and any segregated holding cell time.

Personally, I'd rather spend my money on a $25,000 execution
And BTW, in case anyone didnt know, before they inject the poison that kills you, your overly sedated for at least 10min prior to the final injection. A priest can almost read their last rights before the poison is ever injected. They fall asleep in the most peacefull way and never wake up. In-humane? Hardly!!

The execution is actually more expensive than the life in prison sentence.
