Windows XP going off market in June: Which operating system will you switch to?

Microsoft announced over a year ago that Windows XP would be going off the market in January 2008. XP was later given a brief stay of execution, to June 30, 2008. Your copy of XP will work for at least six more years, but new software and peripherals are likely to stop working with XP.
  • Vista, a logical step forward for PC users.
  • Linux, maybe I'll stop getting worms and viruses.
  • OS X. Seems like a good time to try a Mac.
  • I'll stick with XP until it no longer works.

Answered I'll stick with XP until it no longer works.

I can't see scrapping a perfectly fine operating system and buying another just to increase Microsoft's sales. When I have no option then I will switch.

    using a PC is like frenching Ann Coulter... you never know what kind of virus you might get.

    have to have a new computer anyway in a few years. Got this one added into the price of our new car so about 2 more years when we trade that one in.....

    somehow I'm not so enamored with Vista... after I'm done with XP, I'll probably switch to something like Linux, because I like my PC.

    I love my Mac.. I made the switch back in June of 06. At first I didn't want to, I loved the Windows cool aide but now I love it! I use it for development too and it's great, super fast and I love being able to use the unix shell.

    I'm sure operating systems will improve within the next 6 years anyways, but until then, I'll stick with xp.

    I think all my primary machines are going to be Macs from here on out. Maybe Ubuntu for secondary boxes; it's not perfect but it's definitely made Linux more usable for daily tasks like web access and email.

    windows 98 was pretty good.
    windowsME was a nightmare
    XP was good and workable.

    Wife has VISTA, I am learning to hate it.

    I still use Win XP for all my Windows PCs. I have Ubuntu on a separate computer at home I use when someone else uses the primary computer.

    I'm not happy with Microsoft's decision - especially with all of the bad PR for Vista. I like XP and I'll hang with it while I check out other operating systems. I have too many programs I use on an almost daily basis that are not compatable with Vista.

    Took me a while to get used to it, and there was very little software or applications that worked within it when I first got Vista, but I love it now, and it does seem like the next step..

    sorry dear..Gates owns Mac now, too..lol. They don't even use SCUZI anymore, and like everything else, manufactured over seas. :(
