Did the Miami Dolphins make the right choice drafting Jake Long the first overall pick?

Those that try to build through free-agency don't win anything. Ask the Raiders and Washington. There owners spend boat-loads of money with no results

A team can do better than to pick an offensive lineman first overall. True, this year doesn't have that amazing of a QB pool to chose from, and I wouldn't pick Darren McFadden 1st overall either.
I remember Tony Boselli (USC Trojan) went 2nd overall to the Jaguars. You can't build a franchise around a lineman. They get injured often and don't often lead the team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... -

It shows that where a guy gets drafted it sometimes makes no difference at all.
After some thought and looking at the talent avail for the draft, picking an OL may mean the right decision for 2008. -

I played football and coached football, and if its one thing I've learned is that if you do not have a good to great offensive line, you lose, PERIOD! The game is the same as it was when it was first invented, you win in the trenches. No blockin, no winnin'. And great offensive tackles, like quarterbacks and defensive ends, are extremely hard to find. Marshall Faulk, Issac Bruce, Torry Holt, Az - Hakim, and the rest would not have done or caught a damn thing with Kurt Warner laying on his back because of the lack of protection (as the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans when they had David Carr, are painfully learning). YOU HAVE to build your team from the inside out. Bill Parcells started the dominance of New England (remember Bill Belichek learned the pro game from Parcells), the Jets were good when he was there now they're garbage, he drafted all of Dallas' pro-bowlers, and you know what he did for the Giants. The common denominator among all those teams was that they were/are very physical along their offensive and defensive lines That's why his defenses were always in the top ten (ala Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, Willie McGinnest, Greg Ellis, and Demarcus Ware) and h...That guy that went undrafted had all the time in the world to throw the ball. hmmmm...I wonder why that was? Bill Parcel just made the mistake of a life time. their is no offensive tackle worth the first overall pick. I watch Jake play he has two bad knees. he will not be able to compete with all the talented defensive ends in the league. the dolphin will have another bad year thanks to bill parcel.

Bill Parcels has a long and sucessfull track record for drafting talent.
