Miley Cyrus is speaking out about her 'near nude' shot in this months Vanity Fair. The photo, which was shot by the renowned Annie Leibovitz, shows the 15 year old Disney star topless with a satin sheet covering her chest. Through her publicist on Sunday, Miley attempted to explain herself. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about." Vanity Fair countered back with their own statement. "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley." So, do you think it was right of Miley to have done the photo?

It is a beautiful, artistic picture. I'm 15 and I go to an arts highschool. I've seen more racy things in our gallery than what Miley's done. Hell, we even have a life drawing class in which you draw naked people!
It's just a shot of her back. Nothing to get too worked up about. I'm 15. I could post a picture of my back on the internet and nobody would care. You might say she's a rolemodel for little kids... But, what is she "teaching" them by showing her back?
I've seen little kids in bikinis. Ahh, I'll stop now.

I think that anyone who believes this shot is "explicit" in any way is a fucking moron. I mean, I dont see any nudity. I dont see any sexually "motivating" actions or signs. And also, people are being so judgmental of Miley.. I mean. Jesus fucking christ. You should be more judgemental of that. What about porno. Every fucking teen knows about that but it doest mean they wanna be like Brittney Skye or Giana. I say leave the poor kid alone. -

she isnt naked but no one wants to see that. its not artistic, it dumb. shes not some playboy bunny (though i bet she wants to be). she keeps playing innocent and if she wants us to believe her, she should stop doing these ridiculous things! those kinds of poses are for women, not little girls who think they're hot. -

She didn't really do anything wrong. Honestly, it's actually a nice shot with light makeup and people shouldn't critisize her for it. After all, her parents were part of it too. -

Aside from everything else, it's a gorgeous shot. But yes, it was a mistake of because of her many young fans. Other than that, i see nothing wrong with the photo. It's not like she's showing anything. It's her back! And her parents were supervising the whole thing. -

Miley is setting the example that it is ok to be like the pics... and it isn't
she has 6 and 7 year olds(aka the most inpressionable age) looking to her as a role model ! she supposedly took the vow of purity i think not cause the vow of purity states that you are supposed to be sexually pure in mind and body not just the body and i know cause i have taken the vow of purity!!! she sets the most awful example just not for children but for teens also!! -
Loosen up. She's not naked! All you see is her back. It isn't really that bad. After alll, her parents let her. It was supposed to be a clean, simple shot with light makeup. Give her a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no, she's not stupid. She's actually a great star and that's why people admire her. BTW, there are young kids looking up to other stars like Britney Spears and stuff and they are much worse.

Answered Here's what I think....
I can't belive how repressed Americans are, emotionally, sexually and artistically. This is the kind of repression that leads to all the closeted scandals we hear about on a daily basis. Grow up America, people have sex, and yes there is sexuality in all of us, young and old. Annie Lebowitz is an incredible artist and the picture is absolutely beautiful. My only regret is that Miley was put in a position to apologize for something she should not have, I wish she had stuck to her guns. -
