Does seeing these commercials effectively prevent kids from smoking cigarettes? Or does it make them want to try it? I know when I see them, or hear them on the radio, I get the sudden urge to light one up. Are these commercials serving there intended purposes?
We have these warning stickers on every packet of cigarettes in the uk, they're always ignored and often a source of intense annoyance, I saw one guy who had a tobacco tin that had a warning sticker on saying "You could be hit by a bus tomorrow" As much as i personally despise smoking, this message is true, if you want to smoke go ahead, i think the no smoking in public buildings was a good move for the uk but ive heard some very sad stories like this little old lady who had a regular pub she'd been going to for years, during winter she's forced to go outside in the cold if she needs to smoke. Pretty sad tbh
If the commercials aren't stopping young people from taking up the habit, how about watching your 26 year old brother (smoker less than 10 years) dying of cancer?
Answered No, they do not work.
