Good to excellent service gets 20%. Normal to okay service gets 15%. I would only tip less than 15% if the server were rude to me - but that's extremely rare.

As long as the server has a good attitude and is nice, I will tip 15% for poor service. Servers depend on tips to survive.

    I leave a tuna. If I were a waiter, it's what I would want.

I have been tipping 15% (rounded _up_ to the dollar or half-dollar) all my life. I will tip 10% or 20%+ on exceptionally bad or good service.

I'm wondering though, if there are those out there that tip based on time spent in a particular establishment. For example, why does the wait staff serving my party (of 2) a $100 meal deserve a better tip over a wait staff that works equally hard to serve my party a $40 meal? Shouldn't I recognize the wait staff is working equally to keep my glass full and to serve me lamb and garlic mash versus keeping my glass full and serving a burger and fries?

I don't remember the last time i tipped less than 15%.. it's been a while, and I only tip less when the service deserves it.. Even I know people have bad days, but when it affects your performance and attitude towards customers, it reflects in your tip...

Normally, i tip 20 to 25%... sometimes, even going as high as 50%
