How about return to Hawaii's tribal feudalism? Could they survive trade wars from the Pacific Basin? Do they plan to seek protection from China? Nope. They voted to uphold their union as late as 1959. You cannot have "big daddy" build your infrastructure and then kick him out and take the stuff. I mean, this is one reason for the US Civil War. States cannot withdraw from the union regardless of what you label it. Where would that stop?
If they can do this then we should all be able to "fire daddy" and stop paying taxes and obeying unpopular laws; we could ignore civil rights and stop being all PC.
We must stop this trade in grievances, racial segregation and victim mongering or some less benevolent government might take over our pieces and erase our ability to enjoy these cool, diverse opinions.
