Is the fashion industry killing it's models?

Alexandra Michael got out before it was too late.. read her story below.. but ever since the "fashion icon" Twiggy made thin in.. it seems that form of beauty has been a fashion designers preference for runways models.. Has the fashion industry lost it's mind by demanding unrealistic images on it's models.. or is it just fine the way it is..

It is a very big part of the problem. I watched an interview, with Cindy Crawford, last year. In 1990, she was one of the top runway models. She said, that for today's standards, she would be at least 25 pounds, too fat, for modelling. She did not have an ounce of fat on her!!!! the ideal now, is a very large head, on a itty bitty skeleton frame. The designers, want a "hanger", to display the clothing.

I blame the designers, foremost, as they choose their models.

And I think you're right. Oh, you've got a bit of a boob fetish there, but that's OK. At least none of those gals has bones showing -- they have lovely bodies that I would think any man would appreciate.

Its truly sad how modeling in the 90's were, i think the modeling industry has come a long way. models used to have to have a drug skinny look, now they want their models more healthier and a little bit fuller. Now there are modeling industries with plus size models, and they do want different body types now.

That's a good thing.. but the article above worried me.. it makes me think the waifish look is back with the fashion industries..
  • raves +1   [-] by Irene LNF
agreed jen there are some people who do not want to change so its still is a problem.

haha... yeah. we have to learn that there is nothing wrong with our beauties. the media might say this is in, but we all know the media asks themselves throughout the years what were they thinking having this fashion style or doing this. it starts with us feeling beautiful in our own skin. i certaintly do. : )

I think you're exaggerating the comeback of a more reasonable body type for models. A lot of those so-called plus-sized models are 8's and 10's -- the last time I looked, that was normal, not plus, particularly when you remember that all models are tall.
  • raves +1   [-] by maggie
    u gotta point there.
  • raves +1   [-] by Irene LNF
im not exaggerating. if you do not agree that's perfectly fine. that's what sodahead is all about. the modeling industry has come along way. there are plus size angency and some companies that do not like their models slim. times have changed. even actresses are now more curvier and fuller. even if plus size models are 8's and 10's its better than being 0's and 2's like it was in the nineties.

    More normal.

The designers must have been trying to market to pedophiles with the first pic. The second is a far more attractive woman. She has curves! A woman should have curves.
