    They were in the house when we bought it,we did have roll up shades in our old house in ny.

    That's what was on the windows when we moved into our house, and we never felt the need to change that.

    We have shades in the back and blinds in the front. I prefer the shades because the blinds don't close as well.

    I live in an apartment and they have blinds. I like shades though, I think they look nice.

    I have no neighbors, and have a great deal of seclusion, so no shades are needed....love it!

    Like the pull shades that are a pain in the rear if the spring comes undone inside, and then you have to take it down, and tighten the spring?

    I have them on every window....
