Is Scott McClellan lying about George W. Bush?

Scott McClellan, who served as White House press secretary under President George W. Bush from July 2003 to April 2006, published a scathing memoir, accusing the President of purposefully misleading Americans by manipulating intelligence and using propaganda to sell his agenda of going to war in Iraq. McClellan claims Bush decided to invade Iraq soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S. with no flexibility in his approach. McClellan says he was badly misguided by the Bush Administration regarding the war and was "at best misled" about the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame by Bush senior adviser Karl Rove, I. Lewis Scooter Libby, and Vice President Dick Cheney. McClellan suggests that Libby and Rove secretly met to get their stories straight when federal investigators were hot on the Plame case. McClellan said, "Scooter Libby was walking to the entryway as he prepared to depart when Karl turned to get his attention. 'You have time to visit?' Karl asked. 'Yeah,' replied Libby. I have no idea what they discussed, but it seemed suspicious for these two, whom I had never noticed spending any one-on-one time together, to go behind closed doors and visit privately."

Whoever thinks Bush did not have an agenda with Irak way before the invation is not having the eyes opened.

Answered Yes; Scott McClellan is lying. This is revenge for being let go.

Scott doesn't back anything up with facts. Additionally, before and after we invaded Iraq Scott was a deputy press secretary and not involved at the level he claims and would have had to be at to hear what he is claiming. He has already admitted that the editors told him to juice it up and make it more negative. Scot is the one with the credibility problem.

Answered I'm not sure if Scott McClellan is telling the truth or not, because...

Its a tangled web they have woven at the white house. its going to take time and hard work of the people, people with balls, to get to the bottom of this. Balls which i don't think we have. Here is a man saying, "listen people, here is what you were thinking about, it is true!" That's a cue for the american people to start doing their own research. But America is to damn lazy, we just want to go on what another person has said. but then you come across the americans that "LOVE" this country, and when someone says somehting wrong is going on and here are the facts, they say he is lying or he is not patriotic. He might be lying for some extra sells on his book. but then again Bush might be lying to get more money from oil. Lets go and cross his story with others and see what just might be true.

i wasn't there, I have not read his book and everyone knows that politics is dirty- you have to watch your back- he may be telling the truth - what's the real proof? Seeing Libby coming out of Cheney's office when they never had a one-on-one before? Maybe.....inconclusive....maybe the answer is in the book. I'll go buy a copy.

George Soros bankrolled the publisher of this book, along with several other Bush-bashing books. In case you do know, Soros has long desired to reshape the USA to resemble Socialist countries in Europe. He wants to knock the USA down many many notches on the world stage.
  • raves +2 -1 [-] Arcturus6 replied to guessit
George Soros is probably one of the most vile and dangerous individuals on this planet; especially considering his hatred of the United States. From what I have heard him say and know of his methods and ideas, he has to be one of the most miserable individuals who ever lived. For all of his money, his wealth, he seems to me a complete and total failure! If Scott McCLelland had his so-called "tell all" book published by a Soros entity, then all the more reason to doubt its authenticity.

I believe everything Scott says about this corrupt administration and I knew it even before his book came out. What I don't understand is why the news media didn't speak out. Was it because they, too, were intimindated by all the Bushies?

Here is a FACT for you...

Soros linked to hate-Bush McClellan book.

McClellan's spill-all book is PublicAffairs Books, which in turn is owned by Perseus Book Group.

"The firm is owned by Perseus Funds Group (holding company Perseus LLC), a capital management firm that grew from about $20 million in 1995 to over $2 billion now," .....The board has tons of liberals from the Clinton and Carter administrations, with far-left credentials.

If you go to the New York Department of State website and hunt for "Perseus" what comes up is a listing that includes Perseus, L.L.C., Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund, LP; Perseus-Soros Biopharmaceutical Investors, LP; and Perseus-Soros Management, LLC.

Can't wait to see the backs of those dishonest, hypocritical "leaders". They have ruined the image and reputation of America throughout the world. God bless America and help us return to our former glory days in the near future once a Democratic government reclaims the White House.

I further believe that although the book is not flattering to Bush, I think Bush encouraged the book to get back at Cheney, Rove and Libby, since it is incriminating to those players.

Answered I'm not sure if Scott McClellan is telling the truth or not, because...

    This is the bottom line:

It doesn't matter if he is telling the truth or not - he has shown himself to be a scumbag in either case

The reason is - if he is lying now he is a dirty rotten lying son of a bitch who will sell out his friends for money.

If he is telling the truth now, then he is showing himself to be a gutless, lying son of a bitch for lying to us while he worked for Bush. If he truly believed that Bush and his aides were actively deceiving us, he:

    A) participated in lying to us with them

    B) should have grown a pair and brought it up man to man with him

    and

    C) should have had the integrity to distance himself (quit) from the administration and then told us why.

Scott stayed right in there - publicly supporting the Bush administration all the way and sucking up all the perks of a cushy White House job all the way.

Now he says everybody but him are a bunch of lying sons of bitch. Scotts kiss and tell book is designed to do one think - make Scott a bunch of money. I think he should take a long look in the mirror and then tell us - was he lying when he was working for Bush, or is he lying now?

Scott - it has to be one or the other.

Who is the moron who asked this question? Let's see, every out of line statement coming from the administration is NOT a lie and of coarse, every comment that is not from the administration IS a lie. Uhhhh, sound a little simplistic to you? Aim a large mid air tanker full of fuel to crash into congress when G. W. Dickhead give his state of anything speech and get rid of all of the cretins that 'have seen the devine path'. And you call yourself a citizen and a patriot. I guess you checked your brain at the door!

Richard Nixon taught us how tricky, dirty, deceitful and self serving politics is. I remember how Bush's brother in Florida fixed the voting machine there and won the election for him. McClellan was getting paid to go along with the program. Now he's saying how he really felt. Whenever anyone blows that whistle, the whistlee always trys to throw the onous on the other person. I wonder what happened to democracy; In God we trust; Do unto others as we would have them do unto us; tell the truth-the truth will set us all free. Free. That's a revelation. Peace Out!!

Yes, I think he is lying. If was so concerned for the American people he should have come out with this information in 2006. Not wait until an election year, and of course the lucrative book deal. If Obama wins this election I bet you bottom dollar Scottie will be back in the White house in some capacity. This was a very calculated move.
