Obama Fist Bump: What do you think of it?
It is the first Presidential Fist Bump on record. In addition to the traditional kiss on the cheek and hug, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle pounded fists in celebration of Barack's winning the 2008 Democratic Primary.

Obviously I am not as bright as you are, so please elaborate on how a cute little fist bump between husband and wife (who seem to have a very wonderful and loving relationship) could be disrespectful (by the way you spelt it wrong) and to whom? Thank you so much for your answer. -

There was nothing wrong with what they did. This was just a more hip handshake between a wonderful loving couple. My wife and I do it all the time right before she gets up to sing. I don't understand why people are afraid of things they don't understand. The people that have a problem with this MUST be from a older generation becasue most people that a breathing on earth understood this. This is a new and younger generation that the older generation need to understand or they will be constantly have negative jviews of something they never tried to understand. -

I think it's not a big deal . If I did it on tv or anyone else did it there would be no special attention to it. The media needs to find something better than this to draw attention to.

That's what's wrong with people today. You think you have room to judge. If you like people from a distance that's your choice. However, if your an affectionate person, why should you have to hide who you are to appease you. You might make other people feel disrespected acting as if affection isn't natural? -

I think the fist bump was personal. This showed how down to earth he is. The USA would be a bettter place to live if he is president. We need change and he is the only one on the ticket that is not a "good old boy". If you want real change than vote for the Black President! -

everything the president and VP have done since taking office in 2000 (wrongly) has been disrespectful to our country, to hard working Americans and those we have attacked in other countries. The Republicans in office now have no right to say anything bad about anyone else. -

I thought it was a great representation of a new generation that wants a president thats more like them. Things change with time and this is appropriate for the new years to come. I hate republicans who want to smear Barack for something so simple, the people who vote 'disrespectful' on this subject should grow-up, ya know what's 'disrespectful' republicans like Bush, Cheney, & Rumsfeld who stand up and tell flat-out lies to the americans to promote their personal wars/agendas. I think its disrespectful to those who voted them in & the smart people that didnt vote for them who realized the lies and called them on it. Its also disrespectful to then cheat in elections to get another term when they messed up the first one so bad. Grow-up and quit complaining about trivial stuff, lets talk about the real issues like Barack has been doing the whole time:) -

I think that the Republican party should keep its head in the game instead of trying to psycoanalize every little thing they can to try and throw attention off of the fact that they have no idea what in the world they are doing. They do not have an answer for Mr. Obama because they spend to much time making belittleing commercials that attack the character of a MAN (OBAMA) who has exceptional character. -

Of course the fist bump was cute..It shows that we can learn things from our kids and there is nothing wrong with that..How many of your kids thought it was cool to see important people copying one of their gestures...LOL they just showed us why we love our kids so much.
