    thet're both just amazing.
    they have a smilar taste but different talent and style.
    you can't really make a decision.
    metallica's new album pretty much blows right now but they have more history that could put them on top.
    avenged sevenfold has old stuff too but not as much.

    they both tie on my list, they are both great and influential metal bands, kirk and syn's guitar work are both excellent, and the vocal styles of the band are both amazing

    Metallica is great and all, their music is original and something that'll never get old but their style is always the same- you can always predict what a track will sound like, unlike avenged sevenfold, they are unpredictable with their sound and it's amazing how they can play in different styles and pull it off. I grew up on Metallica but enjoy the sound of a7x as well.

    Yes. And that's what I meant by how they are original for their time. But I mean when you hear all of their albums and the new one, the sound is always similar. Im not saying it's bad, I mean hell, I've listened to Metallica since in the womb. Avenged sevenfolds style is just inconsistent and ass kicking.

    The fact they have been around longer means nothing. i.e, I love u2, but I favor plenty of bands over them. And u2 have been around since the late 70's. I don't care if you like metallica or hate avenged or whatever just wanted to say that.
