Do you have faith in people after watching this video and not seeing people stop to help?

78, year old Angel Torres is struck by a hit and run driver on May 30th, 2008.

Hartford Connecticut Police department wants to find the car responsible.

The NEWS MEDIA says no one did anything to help the elderly man. You watch the video..and in the 1 min or so from when he was hit to when a Police cruiser(on another call) happens onto the scene..
What would you have done???

PS. The man is now paralyzed.

Answered Yes. All of those people should of helped the man immediately and the drivers should of chased the car that hit Torres.

MY warrior spirit would have jumped in me and I would have immediately chased the cars and or jumped out to stop traffic and help the man! Creator knows and sees everything, anyone who did not help will not be forgiven, it is a myth that even average people who cannot see or hear can be forgiven easily. Goes to show the character of those in the immediate area. I help every time no matter what! Even if it is my enemy.

OMG this is just sickening. I understand being in shock but what excuse do the people have that turned around and went back the other way or the guy on the moped that passed by and then circled back around him only to head back the other way, or the car that pulled over right after he was hit only to pull away not even 20 seconds later. Glad I dont live in Conn.

The NE is another world and this would be expected from a liberal attitude.

Its so said I completely understand after learning about the neighborhood. I used to jump in to help anyone I could but after loosing a family member for jumping in to save others I am a lot more cautious. This was one of the sadest events I have ever witness. I was glad to find out that though no one stopped to help several people did call 911. And it just so happened a police officer was driving by.

It looks weird, cause some people are just walking buy. But even more people sees what happen and..wel..mostly stares. But at the other hand, what more can you do but to call for the ambulance in a such serious accident? His back was probably messed up, so then it's dangerous to move him or something. And asking if he's alright would just be a waste of time. I would've called the ambulance fast as hell, and make sure he wasn't hit by another car. If it would have been a little less severe accident, there would've been more possibilities to actually help the person. But worse things similar to this has happened before. Like a woman got killed in the us for about..hmm..20-30 years ago, and it was in the middle of the town, lots of people heard her scream, and saw her crawling on the ground, like several times cause the killer even came back. there were a lot of witnesses, but no one ever did anything. That is pure psychology, if something happends and we don't see other people react, then we don't either. Really, really stupid.

Answered No. I don't blame them, I would of been shocked too.

I saw a man get run over one time. I stopped my car and started to run back. A car swerved to miss the body lying in the road and almost ran over me. Another car came and ran over the body again. It was dark, it was mass chaos and no one really knew what to do. I asked if we should try to get him out of the road and other people said no we should not move him. It was just kind of an unreal situation and you sometimes just don't know what to do. If they had moved him then they may have been sued. He is paralyzed and a lawyer may have tried to blame it on moving him.

I can understand the initial shock, but too much time passed.

Shame on all those bystanders. I guess there's a gene or some kind of trigger in my mind, because if I'd have been there, I wouild have jumped in and stopped traffic. You don't want to touch someone in that situation unless you absolutely know what you are doing.

My guess is that there are those who are too intimidated by law suits, or are just too overwhelmed, or just don't want to get involved. The least someone could have done was to chase the driver who ran and get the licence number.

That's right, just stand there like a group of jack asses. Don't help the man or anything, you might actually do something right for once in your life. The car that hit him didn't even bother to stop. They call themselves americans, WTF ever. PATHETIC

In my career it is in my nature to try and help people. Civilians are shocked to see a scene like that. I can recall traveling with my wife and kids and a vehicle blew a tire and slid into a fence line onto someones property. I was about a mile back when I saw the vehicle wreck out and I stopped to check to see if the driver was ok. All was fine, but a lot of cars that were behind the car drove by.
The people in the video were probably shocked or just did not know what to do. You can't blame society due to the fact that the majority of people out there don't know basic first aid. drove people video shocked blame society majority people basic aid

My dad and step mom were in an accident on the toll road..their truck flipped 3 times and landed upside down in a ditch...people seen it happen and swerved to miss them but no one i mean no one stopped to see if everything was ok....they had to find their phones and call for help themselves...people are too busy with their own lives to bother with anyone else's. I know that if I seen something like this happen I would at least stop to make sure help was called....people make me sick...physically fucking sick!!!

Man am I glad I don't live in Hartford Connecticut! The first thing I would have done is ran and helped the man anyway I could. What kind of people are they to just stand there and watch this man in pain?

I agree that people should've done more.... help him, and chase the car. But at the same time, it's hard to judge it just by looking at the video. Not everyone is the same, and the some people might have been too shocked to move or do anything. I don't know.....
