Get a job, start a business, whatever.I started my business with a beat up truck and a few tools doing roofing and have built it into a good sized commercial property maintenance company.I have a friend who started mowing yards on the side who makes $80,000 a year now.
If we started over and gave everyone in the country the same amount of money, how long do you think it would be till most of the people were back where they started? -
Yea that all sounds good ..try asking your Buddy how he likes keeping his mows fueled at today's prices.
because it sounds like he has a fleet of riders. It costs just to keep your yard maintained so I know he's feeling this as the rest of America is. And Bush and this Oil-based Administration are making billions and writing and blocking legislation to help them continue the fleecing of
America. Get a job..where Circle K ,Dunking Doughnuts a man can even pay the bills off todays wages ..All the real jobs are over-seas now
-
He's still making money. He just raised his rates to cover the extra costs just like all the other business's are.Mine included.
I agree with the jobs going over seas.Piss's me off to.Along with illegals driving down wages.
I used to live in western NY not to far from your area and the job market is really bad up there. It sucked, but I had to move to where the jobs were to provide for my family. -

Windfall profits, by definition, result from factors outside the control of business. They profit from conditions that they did nothing to create. That portion of their profits should be subject to an additional tax, and the proceeds used to develop alternative energy sources, and to help the poor to meet the increased costs of energy. -

Socialism is not the American way!
Take a course in Econ 101 - businesses drive the economy. Without them - no jobs. They are entitled to their profits. It's the American way. They do give back to the communities if you look deep enough.
This is what we need to do NOW!

Economics 101 creates a lot of free market fundamentalists. All those elegant charts and graphs can be seductive, and it's easy to miss the meaning of words like "dislocations" and the fact that ceteris paribus never holds true. Even Adam Smith, the founder of modern economic thought, champion of capitalism, and author of the seminal work, "The Wealth of Nations" did not believe business should be entirely unregulated.

The Repubs are 100% right. Imposing taxes on OUR companies for something that is happening on a global scale would make them less competetive and is the government interfereing in the private sector. If you don't understand why this is more important than having your politicians throw a little money at you to make you happy, you've probably never been in business before. -
You are probably right on this one. Individuals just want cheap gas and dont even try to understand anything they just hammer Bush. These profits will help discover new energy and keep us competitive. That is also part of our national security. Its sad how dumb people are, they just blurt out what pops in there heads. We should be proud we have our oil reserves and strong oil companies till we get more new sources.

I disagree,we are paying market prices. Economy was in for this, cheap gas is gone. Has nothing to do with politics. Its a free enterpise. You can ride a bike, walk, take a bus or buy you a hybrid. Chevy has a car 34 city others ect. We need to blame ourseleves instead of stupid politicians. We buy the gas hogs for comfort,we will have change our ways. Obama will have no impact on oil or gas. Do you honestly think Bush even knows what anything cost. Presidents dont use money they make money.Everything is bought and catered to their every need. If your Obama get in it will be the same way,but worse.

That's always the way they have been. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
