The time has come for the democratic candidate, Barack Obama, to pick and announce his democratic running mate and the Democratic National Convention in August of 2008. Rumors are floating that the VP spot may be between Delaware Senator Joseph Biden Jr. and Indiana Senator Evan Bayh. Either way, which ever candidate Barack Obama does pick, at the DNC, to lead to the country next to him, will be making history if Obama is elected as the next president of the United States.
So who do you think it will be: Joseph Biden or Evan Bayh?

John McCain's campaign accused Barack Obama on July 31st, of playing at racial politics after the Democratic candidate predicted that Republicans would try to scare voters by pointing out "he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."
However, Barack Obama's campaign spokesperson, Bill Burton said that Obama was referring only to being new to Washington politics; Barack Obama isn't like the other presidents because he didn't become a nominee after spending years in Washington, so says Obama strategist Robert Gibbs. In his speech on Wednesday, July 30th, Barack Obama told audience members that John McCain and George W. Bush would resort to scare tactics to try and scare voters away from him.
This all happened a day after the McCain campaign launched a negative television ad that suggested Obama was similar to lightweight celebrities Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Barack Obama claims that he is putting important issues on the table, and that John McCain is just offering distractions for voters.

John McCain's presidential campaign released a televised ad comparing Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. The presidential election ad suggests that the democratic candidate is little more than a celebrity known for childish antics like Spears and Hilton. Barack Obama is one of the biggest and most widely known celebrities in the world, but McCain's campaign ad questions whether he is truly capable and ready to lead a country. John McCcain's campaign has focused much of their attention at bashing Barack Obama and trying to downsize his abilities as a leader, especially when it comes to the government. Barack Obama retorted that McCain has nothing positive to say about him, and people should turn their focus to what John McCain stands up for, rather than what he stands against.

Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for a crude reamark he made on Sunday about Barack Obama following an interview with a Fox News correspondent. While Jesse Jackson was having a conversation with another interviewee, a hot mike caught Jackson whispering, "See, Barack's been talking down to black people. ... I want to cut his nuts off."
Claiming that it was a private conversation, Jesse Jackson was quick to mediate by saying that he was a huge supporter of Barack Obama and that he wanted to address the issue publicly before the cable network aired the comments because "I know that they will further violate the context of it." Jesse Jackson explained that the comment stemmed from Barack Obama's support of Faith-Based Programs, and Obama's recent addresses to a black church on Father's Day where Barack Obama emphasized the moral issues of fatherhood. Jesse Jackson claims that Obama's message to black voters has to be broader and include more things than just the moral issues.

Despite their past rivalry, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are campaigning together in Unity, New Hampshire.Obama is now depending on Clinton to persuade her former supporters to shift their loyalty to her new partner. This partnership now has dual purposes, as Clinton needs the help of the Illinois senator to help repay her campaign debt of $10 Million, and Obama needs the support from Clinton's followers to assure his chance for presidency. Obama has already donated $4,600 to Hillary's campaign debt-- $2,300 each from him and his wife-- which is the maximum amount allowed for personal donation.

Barack Obama has won over more than half of Hillary Rodham Clinton's former supporters, according to a recent Yahoo! News poll. It seems party loyalty is overcoming hard feelings after their hard fought Democratic presidential contest. Obama's progress with Clinton supporters is encouraging for the Democratic nominee, but far from complete. More than one in five who had backed the New York senator now plan to support Republican John McCain. Hillary has introduced Barack Obama to her financial backers in Washington, and she will aggressively campaign for the Democratic nominee leading up to the national election in November.
