I see the commericals all the time, and as a child I always said I would adopt one of those starving children in Africa and help give them the life I had growing up. But as an adult, I've been turned off by the fraud and such I've heard about it. So, I wondered, have you ever adopted a child through the Miracle Network, or donated to one of their charities? Why or why not?

I saw this on the news this morning and I thought this was a wonderful idea. My husband and I have had many conversations on how we will handle having children in the future with his decision to be career military and how you explain to your child why Daddy hasn't been home in so many months. How you answer "Will he ever come home?" Do you lie and say "of course" or do you say "i hope so" and scare your child? Well, Sesame Street is coming out with a (free) dvd series for military families to help cope with deployment, and specifically, a parent coming home injured.

*sorry* I asked this question earlier but deleted it somehow..so I'm asking it again with the same warning: there are a few details that might make the movie less exciting for you, but I promise not to give away the end! and I ask anyone who comments not to mention the ending either! Thanks :) We were watching “The Mist” tonight, and for those of you who haven’t seen it-its about a group of people trapped in a grocery store as a strange mist engulfs their town. And as the movie progresses, the “town nut” gathers a group of people and preaches to them from the Bible, explains the mist away as God’s Wrath due to humanity’s pride and defiance of religious principles. She convinces this group that she has a direct line to God and that by sacrificing the nonbelievers, especially, “Judas” who happens to be in the form of a soldier involved in a project that ultimately produced the Mist, she can save their souls from eternal damnation. There’s this really awesome quote in the middle of the movie when one of the characters says: “ As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up ways to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion? “ “I can’t accept that. People are basically good; decent at least. My god, we're a civilized society!” And the main character replies: “Sure, as long as the machines are working and you can dial 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, you scare the shit out of them - There are no more rules.” So, as I sat pondering the messages behind the movie (because, I’m nerdy like that), it really kind of made me laugh. As a “civilized” society, we see ourselves as rational and civil. That’s what separates us from the other animals right? We tell ourselves that we have risen above our “primitive” ancestors. But when faced with adversity of this magnitude and we don’t have technology or science to save us…we revert to our instincts. So if that’s the case…how civilized are we really?

For the record, I have nothing against anyone who is bisexual nor homosexual, I happen to be straight, but to each his own. I've just been noticing alot more "bisexuals" lately, not only on sodahead, but it seems like every other profile on myspace is bisexual as well.. Do you think this is just a fad that teenagers are falling into for attention? Or has society just started to be more accepting of these lifestyles and more people are "coming out of the closet"?

I've been wrestling with the idea of reporting my boss to HR for a few weeks now, but I'm nervous that they will take his side. He's kind of the "star child" in our company, the youngest store manager in the entire corporation, and from what I understand he can "do no wrong". But unfortunately, he is doing wrong by several of my coworkers, including myself. So I was wondering, have you ever had to report someone to HR? How did it turn out for you?

It seems every retail chain offers one! From CVS, Kroger, Albertsons, Petsmart, Petco, even gas stations are starting to have them! Not only do they give you the sales price but a majority of the time they offer rewards after so much has been spent. Do you use them? Or do you find them annoying?

Cove High School in Texas, where half the students have at least one parent deployed, justified the punishment against Brandon Hill by saying he had violated the no-cell-phone policy when he took the call from his father, who is serving in Iraq. "I have been going through a lot of stress lately and my dad’s like my best friend, so I go to him for everything," the sophomore told FOX News on Saturday. "I needed to talk to him, so my mom got a hold of him on Yahoo and told him to call me, so I answered the phone call in class." When he learned of his son’s punishment, Master Sgt. Morris Hill said he was unsettled. "When my wife told me, I was pretty disturbed by it," he said in a phone call from Iraq. "I was pretty shocked, considering that several months before we left I had talked to the … assistant principal and thought everything was fine," Morris Hill said. "Since my kid’s been going to the school we’ve had a pretty good working relationship." And when his mother, Patricia Hill, tried to contact school officials, she received no response until her son’s story garnered media attention. The matter has since been resolved, Patricia Hill said, but she added that more must be done to protect children around the country from being punished in similar circumstances.
