The 2008 year has been filled with historic events, political outcries, and scandalous politicians. Throughout all of this, President George W. Bush has remained some what out of sight for once, letting the focus fall on other dirty, conniving politicians.
Ted Stevens was convicted in October of 2008 on 7 counts for making false statements.
Larry Craig was convicted for making lewd, suggestive gestures in an airport bathroom.
Alberto Gonzalez couldn't seem to recall past incidents when questioned about who he fired.
Mark Foley was found guilty of soliciting emails, IM's, and text messages with underage girls.
And, Eliot Spitzer had an affair with a prostitute named Kristen, which lead to his resignation as governor.

Now that you've heard the verdicts, you be the jury and decide: Who wins the award for most scandalous politician of 2008?

Barack Obama has won 2008 Presidential Election, reigning supreme over John McCain. However, many people believe that Barack Obama has too many connections with bad seeds, such as Bill Ayers. Obama and Ayers met working on an education reform in Chicago, where they became friends. Despite befriending Ayers, Obama claims he condemns the actions of the Weatherman group, a clan of domestic terrorists whom Ayers was the leader of. Also, Bill Ayers can be linked with involvement in the bombings of the New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, the bombing of the Capitol building in 1971 and the Pentagon in 1972. Barack Obama worked with a man who wrecked havoc on major institutions in the US.

Once the friend of a terrorist, always the friend of a terrorist. So, are you ready to rumble?

The election is over and Barack Obama has taken the throne as President of the United States, with Joe Biden at his side. The Democratic President has a lot in store for our country, including a recipe for hope and change. The country voted for the bi-racial candidate, in hopes of bettering the United States and bringing our troops home from Iraq. No more Republicans, or GOP agendas. No more George W. Bush.

So, with Barack Obama's socialist agenda to look forward to, the question to be asked is: Are you ready to be a Liberal?

Gay marriage is a sore subject for some... in fact it's been the cause of many protests and riots. Depending who you ask, gay marriage is either sinful or beautiful, a right or a privilege. Marriage is defined as the union between a man and a woman in holy matrimony; not between a man and man or a woman and woman. However, times change, and so do rules. What once was considered unacceptable, and universally ignored, is now considered a hot new trend; being gay. Homosexual couples just want the same rights that heterosexual couples have, the benefits of marriage. If California, one of the few states that recognizes gay marriage, passes proposition 8, it would revoke the right for same-sex couples to marry.

How the leader of a country handles a critical situation is a great sign of their leadership skills. On September 11th, 2001, when the World Trade Center was attacked, the president of the United States, George W. Bush began his 20 minute photo-op with a class of second graders. By this time, everyone was well aware of the vicious attacks, soon to leave 1,300 children as orphans.

So, with John McCain's numerous years of experience as US Senator, and Barack Obama's drive to improve America, who would better handle 9/11 today?

John McCain's campaign hit back at Madonna after the pop diva kicked off her world tour with a concert that bracketed John McCain with Adolf Hitler. McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds angrily condemned the segment of Madonna's concert in Cardiff on Saturday that appeared to draw a comparison between McCain, Hitler and Zimbabwean strongman Robert Mugabe. "The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time," Bounds said in a statement. "It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits." Madonna's apparent swipe at McCain came during a performance of the song "Get Stupid", when the Republican contender's image was flashed up alongside images of destruction and global warming as well as Hitler and Mugabe. Towards the end of the song, pictures of Beatles star John Lennon, former US vice-president Al Gore, Indian Mahatma Gandhi and McCain's Democrat rival Barack Obama appeared. Do you agree with Madonna?

Talk show host, Ellen Degeneres and her four-year lover, actress Portia De Rossi, were married Saturday, August 16th, 2008, making it the first big celebrity same-sex marriage since the California Supreme Court ruling in May 2008. The wedding was attended by nineteen guests at Ellen Degeneres & Portia De Rossi's Beverly Hills home.

Hollywood has come out in support of the couple, and prominent celebrities like Katherine Heigl and Tila Tequila have voiced their congratulations. However, many people are upset that same-sex marriage has been legalized in California and are eagerly awaiting the vote on the proposal to ban gay marriage once again.

Bruce E. Ivins, a U.S. government scientist suspected in the 2001 anthrax attacks was found dead July 29 after he learned that federal prosecutors planned to file criminal charges against him. The Los Angeles Times said that he overdosed on prescription Tylenol with codeine. Federal prosecutes were going to seek the death penalty against Bruce E. Ivins, who apparently became depressed and told his therapist he was considering suicide.

The 62 year-old man worked for the Army's biodefense labs at Ft. Detrick, Md. for 18 years until his death on Tuesday. Also, Bruce E. Ivins had a long history of homicidal threats against people.

The Anthrax attacks, which killed 5 people and sickened at least 17, created a lot of stir. Codeine is an unusual way to kill yourself, so we ask, is it possible that Bruce E. Ivins did not commit suicide and was a victim of foul play instead?

The FISA Amendments Act of 2008 is expected to be signed into law by President Bush today. The bill, standing for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which essentially legalizes President George W. Bush's previously unlawful and warrant-less wiretapping program revealed in December 2005 by the New York Times.

The FISA Bill also gives certain liberties to Telecoms companies that assisted Bush and the FBI with tapping possible terrorists, which was the original intent of the FBI's operations.

Although the FISA bill passed in both Houses of Congress, it has come under fire by the ACLU, or the American Civil Liberties Union, because of the supposed violation of the constitutional Fourth Amendment rights (against unreasonable search and seizure) that also imply our right to privacy. Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, Anthony D. Romero has called the measure un-American and Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project said that the ACLU intends to challenge the bill as soon as George W. Bush signs it into Law.

Gas prices have risen to new highs, causing many people to change their spending habits and consider alternate forms of transportation to get around town. With the economy already in a slump, these high gas prices are leading more people into debt, especially in cities where gas has reached over $5.00 a gallon.
