I did not know the rules... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ From a post on SodaHead Groupies: Deleted Users for Abuse SodaHead does its best to provide a balanced forum for people to discuss just about everything from electing the president of the United States to their cat's birthday. Unfortunately, some people violate the Terms of Service when they get upset with another user for whatever reason. SH understands that the nature of the this community can lead to heated political debate or a flame war because someone doesn't like another's person's use of grammar. SodaHead has received numerous requests to prevent abuse or at least respond by cleaning it up. SH Abuse Team has been given direction to take more aggressive actions to meet this goal -- a goal that all SodaHeads should welcome. This does not mean deleting political content. It doesn't mean limiting people's speech except when it violates the TOS or another person's rights. The most common reasons SH Abuse may delete content are: * Cyberbullying/Threats toward another user * Bigoted remarks, such as: racism; sexism; attacks against a person for his/her religion, sexual preference; etc... * Duplicate false accounts * Repeated Spam: posting content to inundate and (or) inhibit users from engaging in a valid discussion. * Commercial Spam: posting commercial content without written permission * Pornographic/Obscene content Recently, SH deleted several users and informed several others that they will be deleted. These users have received several warnings in the past and continued to repeatedly violate the TOS by insulting or threatening users. NOTE: Replies in this discussion will be heavily moderated ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ My Comment: I am delighted to see the guidelines! Thank you! I have questions regarding them... How are infractions found to be infractions? Is it based on DRs, complaints, moderation...? How many instances of any infraction before a warning? Is timing taken into account? If we commit more than one type of infraction, do we get warnings for each type, or just a general warning to shape up? How many warnings do we get? Again, is timing taken into account? Is there 2-way communication between SodaHead and the SH after warnings and before deletion? Duplicate false accounts, or multiple false accounts? Are all false accounts deleted? Are all infractions treated equally? When a SH is deleted, does everything about them go away? Questions, Comments, Replies, Discussions, Profile, Blogs, Name and Avatar -- everything? Or, does just the moderated content get deleted? Is being deleted a forever thing? How do you keep them from coming back? Or, is there a penalty period before being allowed back? I don't intend breaking them, but I do like knowing the rules! (They'll be important to know when all of the "should I be deleted because of this" polls start, if for no other reason!) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Fef's Reply: Good questions. The SH Abuse Team handles each case individually -- they don't mass delete. A lot of the decision making comes with the context, history and severity of the abuse. They have virtually always given a warning to Veteran users who made have slipped up in the heat of the moment. Staff may choose not to disclose the reasons for deleting an account to that user to protect the methods that they used in making that decision. Staff will almost never reveal the reasons to other users. Staff will likely delete not only the duplicate accounts, but all accounts of a user who abuses the site with any of the accounts. Creating another account for a test or if you have problems with your main account will not result in penalties. I was watching the CU/CSU football game on FSN tonight -- good game, but not my point. CU made a touchdown, and the announcers were talking about the level of comfort between Hawkins and McKnight. I swear this is what one guy said: "...It's like peanut butter and f***ing jelly -- apart they're good, but together they're great!..." Were you watching? Did you hear what I heard?

I was reading about the "success" record of severe weight-loss treatments a couple of days ago (yes, it was in a rag, but...). All of the people had lost tons of weight but are now having issues again. No surprise there. What did surprise me was this: one of the women's current stats were given as 5 feet 3 inches, 145 pounds, and wearing a size 8. I'm 4 inches taller, 10 pounds lesser in weight, and there is no way on this planet that I could squeeze myself into a size 8 anything! So, I'm wondering whether the size 8 is her shoe size (or hat, or ring, maybe, but those would be huge on me!), or if I should be able to wear a size 8 dress... What do you think?

We have an annual family outing on Sunday. The outing traditionally includes a visit to a particular resort restaurant. This year, however, the resort has closed its restaurant, so we have opted to have a picnic further on up the road at a waterfall. There are barbecue grills available, but there is probably also a fire ban, so hot dogs are probably not an option. We had salads on a Father's Day picnic. I need ideas! What foods do you take on your picnics?

This joke came in my e-mail today. It made me laugh. I thought I'd share... I was walking past the mental hospital the other day, and all the patients were shouting, "13!... 13!... 13!..." The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the fence and looked through to see what was going on. Some idiot poked me in the eye with a stick. All the patients started shouted, "14!... 14!... 14!..." So... What do you think?

The city I live in is going to be featured on one of those t.v. news magazine shows soon -- for the second time in not too many (5 or 6) years. Missing persons/murder and disappearance. A couple of months ago, there was an article in one of the weekly "news" rags which took place here (the location was mis-identified in the rag, but I don't know if that is their regular practice or an error...). Dead attempted rapist. Possibly there have been good things mentioned in national media, too, but I missed them. Three national media events in 5 or 6 years in the same (not major) city seems like a lot to me, so I thought I'd ask: Have events your town or (not major) city been mentioned in national media?

I went to a National Kite Month (I thought that was March, but apparently it's April) celebration last weekend and had so much fun watching that I didn't even get my kite out of its little case! I was amazed at both the number of kites and the variety of kites -- kites with tails, kites with no tails, box kites, parachute kites... -- not to mention the skill of the kite-flyers! So, do you fly kites?
