I enjoy nostalgic photos like this that are so representative of sweat equity. Beginning with the brick wall where each brick was individually layed and mortared into place (I wonder what the world was like when this wall was constructed). The barrel staves (a nice medium for painting decorative scenes) were individually cut and shaped and secured with its hand forged metal rings. The flower is a product of someone's green thumb and shows new life benefiting from the remnants of past labor. The carpenter who made the old grey door must have been proud of his work and so adorned it with the beautiful white ceramic knobs (very collectible today). Someone must of taken a liking to the rock at the foot of the chair. For they used to be cursed and used as common land fill. The chair seems very solid and would be complete if it had a new weaved seat. Unfortunately these weaved seats were the weakest part of these types of chairs and people would commonly replace the weave with a fitted board. What do you think were the orginal contents of the barrel? Interesting photo. Were these items all in the same area? Did you take the photo?
