I am a UCLA graduate with a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Chicana/o studies. I am a school teacher who enjoys inspiring our youth to realize their full potential.

I was born and raised in Hollywood (Echo Park), CA and now reside in Florida. I am married to a wonderful New Yorican who is from Queens, NY. and graduated from NYU (I like to say the UCLA of New York). We enjoy bettering our community as when we lived in LA, we spent our time motivating inner city youth; I was a Dance instructor and he was a basketball coach for El Centro del Pueblo (an inner city community center).

I love to travel as I have climbed the pyramids of Teotihuacan (Mexico), witnessed the depths of the Grand Canyon, explored the Navajo reservation, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and visited countless states including Hawaii and New York (all the time)...

I am a Chicana (Mexican/Native) who associates my beliefs with the ideologies of El movimiento and challenge any who claim that I do not have the rights that I am entitled to as a U.S. citizen. Forgive me if I am not brainwashed to think that this country is open to all its citizens, as it is not and racism should be abolished..
