Senator Craig should have known at the very beginning of the affair that he could not survive. If he had been more realistic and perhaps more honorable he would have resigned sooner and have avoided prolonging the agony for his family any longer than necessary. These guys seem to get so carried away with their own importance and perceived invincability that they cannot recognize the reality that everyone else can see so clearly.
