Catholic Priest Says Obama Voters Should Repent: Is voting for Obama a sin?

Catholic Priest Says Obama Voters Should Repent: Is voting for Obama a sin?

    110 275
    Undecided
Ah, that Catholic Church, relic of the Dark Ages, based on Sin, Guilt, Suffering, Punishment, Damnation, and Death. If it weren't for brainwashing from birth, it would have been defunct long ago. All religion is mythology based on superstition and fear. All religions teach hate and fear while claiming otherwise. And, as always, intelligent people go for it anyway. Just as they did in Socrates' time, and look what happen there.

Bush Says He Regrets Use of Iraq `Mission Accomplished' Banner: Was the banner a wrong message?

    19 24
    Yes. No "mission" was accomplished.
Just another piece of fiction created by neocons in support of world domination. Anyone who fell for that bit of show biz needs a course in world history and US political history. I, personally, couldn't even watch that particular farce. So sickening. So damned effective. One thing neocons know how to do is use lies and emotions to dupe the undereducated US populace. We have seen that the ill-educated continue to vote for their oppressors, with eagerness and pride. The "founding fathers" predicated our democratic republic on the basis of an educated and intelligent electorate, however chauvinistic their vision of white male gentleman farmers as that electorate. We should all read James Madison's life and times. Illuminating.

Gay marriages. Are you in favor of a law redefining marriage to include gays?

    5,245 8,715
As far as redefining marriage to include gays, I think...
of course they should be given the rights of any other citizens. As for "saving" marriage, heteros might look at their own record, particularly in the Bible Belt which has both the most divorces and the most teen pregnancies. And just how is allowing everyone the same marital rights in any way a danger to heteros? It's all about religion, which promotes hate and fear, just as do fascist governments, in order to control their followers. Oh, I forgot: the "faithful" as if that were a badge of honor rather than a label for the superstitious. Some of us are both hetero and religion-free and would never put others in such a legal/financial/emotional bind as to deprive people who love each other equal rights in the "land of the free." Do you know that the federal government creates an average of over 50 crimes per year, with which to control the rest of us?

Odd. You ask how we feel and then offer an option of what we think. Who edits these things? Anyway, I feel elated and apprehensive. Cheney/Bush have about ten weeks to pull another 9/11 and then impose martial law, and who would put it past them? Also, the fear-ridden brain-dead and the inbred may still attempt to assassinate Obama, discounting his white blood completely. What does such discounting say about themselves?

    Yes. Punish her
On the other hand, maybe it's good that such an irresponsible airhead wasn't in on making the verdict. I blame our schools--well, not the schools so much as the Far Right religiosos who have spent decades hijacking our education system. You know how it goes: You don't PRAY in my schools, and I won't THINK in your church. Our youth and nation are the losers. Big time.

How? If anyone thinks that this free spirited intellectual was a freak, they should take a gander at, oh say, the goings on at the Republican convention this year. But of course this will be fodder for the types who get off on Palin's demagoguery of hate, suspicion, and the most brazen lies I've ever heard in politics, including those of Spiro Agnew and McCarthy.

    Obama
Consider this: McCain abandoned his first wife because she was "broken." He kissed up, shamelessly, to Bush for seven years after having previously positioned himself as a "maverick." Now he attempts to reverse each and every position (except on females' right to control their own bodies, of course), spouts lie after lie in his egregious campaign. Is hectic and angry, unreliable. Left Cindy to deal with miscarriages--alone.

Teens, Knocking down a McCain sign doesn't deserve to get shot at.
Fear is the hallmark of the Right, and those who subscribe to that philosophy of "us and them" see every expression of difference as a threat. They love the notion of "law and order" since it is applied to what they deem the lower orders, the main victims of capitalism and racism, as a matter of fact. The NRA is the "poster organization" of the Right. The Right feeds on violence (capitalism's wars) while talking law and order.

Third & Final Debate: Is It Game Over?

    2,420 4,051
    We won't know until Novermber 4th, 2008.
There are still the stolen elections to come. I have no idea why the Democratic Party hasn't made stolen elections its top priority over the past eight years, but why spend all that time, energy, and money on building votership and campaigning when the Republicans still control voting in key states? It's quite beyond me, and I've written the DNC as well as Obama's and Clinton's campaigns repeatedly asking why they haven't been making that their first priority. We need UN observers, at the very least.

The Right has such contempt for ordinary citizens, and as far as their own supporters among them, they are correct. These people seem to think that if they support the rich, something will rub off on them. They've even been convinced that it's more respectable, instead of pathetically absurd. So they vote against their own well-being and their children's future. Watching Mad Dog Palin whip them up is quite appalling. Shages of Pavlov.

Why would Hispanics support racists like McCain/Palin? Hispanics know that McCain will say anything to get votes.
The pathetic scrap of a man who is John McCain is an embarrassment all around. Just imagine what the rest of the world must think when the Republican Party puts up a lying little creep and his pit bull, which pair would be negotiation (as if) with intelligent and well-educated heads of state around the world. Far worse than little Dubya looking and acting like a clueless idiot (and amazed Europeans saying so to one another). Boggles the mind.

He is what he's always been: an ill-tempered opportunist who despite laziness and moral sleeziness (see the marital cheat, the outrageous pretense that he did more than the other POW's with him--he did not, quite the opposite) "failed upward" due solely to his high-powered father and grandfather, almost exactly like Dubya. Moral fiber: zero.

No, the second presidential debate was not John McCain's last chance.
McCain has a mindless following (well, any regular person who votes against their and their children's well-being time after time must be mindless), and nothing short of McC's committing a crime in front of them will change their "minds." Otherwise, I'd say that he lost a good portion of the undecided. Although how anyone could remain undecided after the sewage McC has been spewing lately is quite beyond comprehension.

No. I would never marry someone that big.
To each her own. I married a long-time friend only to discover (the hard way) that he was paranoid schizophrenic, who thought women are born evil, and thus I must be destroyed. . He turned from Jekyll to Hyde in minutes, once I was committed. Weird! So let's not judge. You never know. May they have a reasonably happy and enjoyable life together.

Did Sarah Palin surprise you in the VP debate?

    5,347 8,268
No. Sarah Palin never surprises me anymore.
If you're sold on her, if you're ignorant of the actual issues, if you believe she actually made any valid points or demonstrated other than being able to hurriedly read her notes during the questioning (no actual debate allowed because the poor thing has no knowledge (just "faith" you know) applicable to actually being a head of state, then you will get what you deserve. Unfortunately, the rest of us don't deserve a personable liar who depends on personality and obfuscation to squeak through anything but a set piece. We need leaders who know history, who understand international relations, who know the law and respect the Constitution. McC and Palin don't cut it. Both lie constantly and consistently. Every time McC spouts another blatant lie, I think, "Ah, consistency." Probably not alone in that. Palin did what she does well: hoodwink people into thinking she's one of them. She's not. She's a millionaire with a large fancy home with a private plane out back, she's a elitist through and through, and worst of all, a deeply committed fascist. Go Sarah! Far, far away. Back to Alaska, in fact.

    Reincarnation.
Actually, I find the idea of reincarnation exhausting, but I still believe in it because I've had certain re-experiences of previous lives that were so technically beyond the present me as to be impossible. Also, I've been through the black tunnel toward the white light (before I'd heard of such a thing) and understand that there is an atmosphere of incredible love there, wherever "there" is. Should be interesting. See Seth Speaks.

She's that cute little dog that the old guy takes for walks so people will notice him. Unfortunately for passersby, the dog, despite its looks, goes vicious at the drop of a hat. Having bit one too many people and other dogs, it may harbor too many viruses even for the old codger. Does McC look as if he's coming down with rabies? Hard to tell. Cross him and see what happens. Maybe instead they could have skycar parks similar to skateboard parks, limiting their imposition on the rest of us. Too bad the inventor(s?) hadn't put their minds to something actually practical, especially in the "end times" for oil.
