I think it was right of Obama to say what he did, but the senate has its own power and it should have kicked this jerk to the curb. He betrayed the Democrats of his state, was elected by Republicans, and supported the Republican ticket. I don't care if they let him caucus, but he should not retain his chairmanship. Our senate is still not representing the people who elected them.

I think if Republicans want to read more drivel from her they can buy her book if a ghost writer with the stomach for that job can be found. Poor Joe should get one too. Maybe they could share a book titled 'John McCain plumbed the depth of stupidity in his attempt to rescue his failed campaign'. Okay, it is too long, maybe that could be the subtitle.

I agree with Mike that Jesse Jackson Jr. is a likely pick to finish Obama's term. I think that it is disgraceful that our Senate is not more diverse and representative of our population. If congress is to represent Americans it should look like America.

Either the bigot should be removed from the church leadership or the church should lose its tax exempt status. As a Christian I am sick of the American church being perverted by far right wing bigoted political people misinforming and misguiding Christians.

I think when things settle down a little there will be less of that sort of thing. Right now there are one sided polls where people are venting their anger and worse. And they attack other polls and vent regardless of question. Eventually they will accept reality and go to polls where they want to answer and address the actual question again, I hope!

I think the girls are children and they should be allowed to be children without people putting expectations on them of any sort. The Bush girls got in trouble in college, but these girls will go through their childhood and hopefully teen years in the White house. I think they will continue to enchant us.

I don't know! I would like to yes put the money in the startups, but the breadth of the destruction that just letting the auto makers fail would does not seem wise when we have so much failing in our economy. I do not think that we can allow tax dollars to be lent to them to make cars that no one is going to buy or drive. The gas guzzler is history. Maybe the loans could be tied to merging the technologies developed by these companies with the experienced automakers and with moving production to that technology now. Both the innovative company and the auto corporation could have a stake in the success of the new replacement lines, people could keep their jobs and we could move forward with mass produced energy efficient vehicles. But as I said I really don't know. These are decisions that have long term consequences in peoples lives.

I do try to read and spell check before submitting comments, but I am typing fast and thinking about what I mean rather than spelling etc. I know when I see previous posts that I make mistakes like most people. I rarely comment on anyones spelling unless they are mocking someone for the same thing or if the mistake makes it a joke that I can't resist mentioning. But basically I think that commenting on the spelling and punctuation of people on a blog instead of responding to what they are saying is rude and tacky like interrupting people in a conversation to correct their grammar. People do it but they shouldn't.

I am sure that Obama is doing what is appropriate, but no one should be fooled by that snake in the grass. Lieberman is a pretender. His state elected a real Democrat as their candidate and the Republicans elected Lieberman. They are the ones he serves. He has protected the Republican interests in the senate and contributed to its lame duck status. I am sure his Democrat colleagues will know how to deal with appropriately. I would not like to see him chair anything. Hopefully his state will vote him out next time.

There are many and as others have suggested you should do what we did months ago and read the platform on his website. Five of the issues that concern me are: Foreign policy - A responsible withdrawal from the occupation of Iraq, stabilization of Afghanistan, renewed pursuit of the actual terrorist that attacked our nation. Economy/energy/environment - His plan is to use the need for serious efforts for clean renewable energy and technologies that protect our environment as a foundation for creating jobs and stimulating our economy, three birds with one stone. Health care - Although it isn't the single payer system I would like to see, we will get national insurance system that will cover all Americans. The American health care system has been criminally negligent for the health care of those who are not privileged. Health care is a human right and Americans should never have allowed our nations system to be so badly corrupted. Education - There are major educational issues in his plan but the one that is most important to me is the one that combines community service with tuition aid to make college and university affordable for all Americans willing to work for it. Tax structure - Obama will work to plug the loopholes that allow the wealthiest in this country to pay the least and sometimes no taxes, reverse the tax cuts for the wealthy that have radically increased our deficit, and provide middle class tax cuts. I hope that helps your understanding of why Obama won the election with a 7 percentage point lead in the popular vote as well as a 364 to 163 electoral lead. Americans did know what they were doing.

I was delighted to see his new site go up. It reflects the openness to the ideas of Americans that he has talked about throughout the campaign. This is going to be the best presidency we have seen in decades and the most interesting era.

No! McCain was no real competition for Obama. Most of the Republicans don't really support McCain and most of his support came from people who had unrealistic fears of Obama and the changes that are clearly needed in this country. McCain had plenty to spend through the RNC and other groups. Obama had plenty to spend because of the massive support he had among regular people who do not normally support political campaigns. We paid for his campaign and it was money well spent.

I am grateful that hope triumphed over hate and that in America, anything is possible! Sorry, but it is true. While our economy is crumbling around us, this hope is what I am thankful for!!!

I will support the president America has elected in his efforts to bring a responsible end to the occupation of Iraq and to stabilize and bring to a constructive end our occupation of Afghanistan. I will also support his efforts and those of our new congress to support both our active military and our veterans to provide them decent services and reward their efforts on our behalf.

He is an ignorant hypocrite. If he does it it's okay? Welfare isn't like social security which we do pay into. Our taxes do pay for all sort of services including the little welfare that is left, but how on earth does he complain about taxes being used for services when he defends using the particular services paid for by taxes that he has needed? I don't think he is capable of processing his thoughts through to reasonable conclusions.
