    None of the above
Politically speaking, Sarah Palin will prove to be a flash in the pan. Her best days are already over. She may stick around for awhile but her image will fade well before this time next year. The Republican faithful have been dissed by McCain's selecting her and they will not forget it.

Barack Obama & John McCain: Who is more likely to cheat on their spouse?

As far as cheating on their wives, I think...
. . . you may want to consider the wives "cheating" on their husbands! But either way, it's ridiculous speculation that only feeds the Jerry Springer mentality and diminishes us for even wasting time on the matter. I do think, however, that John McCain would cheat on his country and the American people far more quickly than Barack Obama would. To some extent, the torture and captivity notwithstanding, he has already done this in Viet Nam. Read the fine print about this 'hero.'

    Does Sarah Palin deserve VP?

    7,011 8,566
No. I don't think Sarah Palin deserves VP
"Deserve" is not a particularly good choice of words here. But I will go with the flow. There is no way in hell that Sarah Palin could function appropriately as President of the United States and THAT is the question that voters have to wrestle with in this election. If you 're not good enough for the presidency then you're not good enough for the vice-presidency. Joe Biden gave stunning speeches in Jefferson City, Missouri, this past Friday and in Scranton, Pennsylvania, yesterday. He talked about what voters really want to hear the candidates talking about: real issues, real answers to our concerns. Ms. Palin has yet to do this in any meaningful way. You do understand the acronyn, OJT, don't you? Can we afford that if the Republican ticket were to win the election and John McCain were to become incapacitated while in office? That is probably the most frightening scenario imaginable!

    I think...
Strictly speaking, it may not be "irresponsible" but, as someone who scoured the neighborhood for empty coke bottles just to get their deposit value when I was a kid, I'll never understand why any youngster should have access to that much money at such an early age. Okay, you argue, she "earned it" by working in a highly exclusive arena of endeavor. But this is an arena notorious for chewing up and spitting out its own, especially the young, the immature and the naive. Put the money away, give her an allowance that keeps her head out of the clouds and let her and others like her have the childhood that years later they will sorely miss.

Absolutely not! We should sweep every city and locale in this country and confiscate every gun out there. Seize them and melt them down. When people have disagreements and they can't resolve them any other way, perhaps a good, old-fashioned fist fight would suffice. Yeah, I know, this is all too simplistic. But can anyone deny with a straight face that there are already too many guns out there? And do they really belong only to the "criminal element"? Of course not. Why is it then that so many shootings involve family members or neighbors or friends? Are they criminals or just plain folk trying to protect their homes? Get real, you crazy cowboys!

    Should the words

Should the words "under God" be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance?

    1,063 1,938
    Yes
My decision on this comes directly from my interpretation of both the "freedom OF religion" and the "separation of church and state" principles embodied in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It is a broad interpretation, I admit, because there is no pretense of an established state religion. Nonetheless, I believe that by implication the principle could be restated to say that in this country we may also enjoy "freedom FROM religion."

Do you think the Bible is true?

Do you think the Bible is true?

    3,802 5,625
    No
Of course not. The Bible is a collection of histories that relate geographically to a very particular group of people, stories (one might say fables) that relate to a time and a place irrelevant in so many ways to the rest of the world both then and now, stories told and only later written without benefit of the advances in knowledge that would take place much later in time and stories that expose antiquated, exclusionary and parochial views of the world. On the other hand, the Bible contains some parables that carry a universal message, value statements that everyone could embrace such as the Golden Rule and some very good poetry to boot. But is the Bible "true?" The Bible, like so many other books, contains truths and elements of truth but it also badly mangles what science so eloquently describes and what reason so firmly denies.

Obama in a heart beat. McCain is still riding his war horse and he just doesn't realize the battle for OUR hearts and minds is lost! We want someone fresh -- but smart and forward looking, not someone who is yesterday's bread and still thinking about the last century (not the 20th, the 19th, stupid)!
