Even though I did not want Obama to become President, I sympathize with his family, especially Michelle. Society sets impossible and sterotypical standards on females in the limelight, especially politicians' wives and more so on strong politicians' wives. Whether she is or not, Michelle appears to be a controlling wife. And, my advice to her is to avoid expressing strong personal opinions in public that might be misconstrued as attempts to be boss or to be in control. She should focus on her family life (as well as charitable endeavors) and not on the business of her husband. In other words, let him do his job as he sees it should be donel. Otherwise, she'll surely offend his supporters and give his enemies reasons to attack.

I think Michelle, Hillary Clinton, and Sarah Palin should be true to themselves. They should wear what they think looks good on them, and not what the image-makers choose for them. Politicians' wives and children should not be used by vindictive and petty people to injure their mates or parents. If we value "our" freedoms to make our own personal choices, shouldn't we acknowledge that others, even unusually visible people like Michelle, have the freedom to do likewise? Keep your individuality, Michelle. As far as your personal choices (like what you wear and what food you enjoy, etc.) are concerned, stand firm. Don't attempt to become a critic's mannequin, subject to this critic or that critic's whims and choices.

American people and their leaders are focusing on so many personal and, really, private issues, like sex, that they are doing a poor job of taking care of crucial, nation-wide issues, like terrorists, the national economy, and health care. This is true, too, of public education. We complain about our children not being able to read, write, and think for themselves. But then, we make our teachers teach everything else, and by so doing, they are forced to neglect these because of the amount of time alotted to them.

Our countrymen/women have lost trust in their leaders. They have lost their sense of patriotism and no longer have pride in country as they once did. I feel that if our leaders do not themselves have trust in one another and do not have a sense of patriotism and love for country, it will not be possible for we ordinary Americans to have trust in our leadership and in one another, or pride in our country. Obama has associated himself with too many anti-Americans and reversed his positions on too many issues for me to ever trust him or to respect him.

Why do you think politicians give in to lobbiest, instead of considering what's best for the U.S.A.? Why do you think politicians ask everybody for money before running for office? What seems to be the essential ingredient to winning a political office--character? intelligence? qualifications? love and devotion to country? No. None of these. Money wins elections. It has for many years. Limits on spending should be placed on politicians. Then lobbiest would not hold politicians captive and scroundrels could not buy their way to power and emphasis would be placed on getting truly the best candidate for political offices.

John McCain has given 100 percent in this race, and I pray he will be the next American President. But, if he happens to lose to Obama, he'll still be the better man.and will have won, in that he has fought a good fight with honor and dignity. Obama has not. :( Plus, he is not just a bunch of words and has proven his patriotism and his dedication to country by having put his country first since he was seventeen years old. Obama's voting record since he's been in Congress has indicated his first concern is himself, not his country's. And his associations with radicals should remind everyone that "Birds of a feather flock together."

Obama's making "greed" a virtue. By stressing (falsely) that those who don't work or that don't pay taxes deserve to be given money and aid they never earned, the man is justifying a gi'me, gi'me attitude. With 40% of Americans not paying taxes, if the ones that do pay taxes really want to help the ones who don't to find happiness, they'll see to it more jobs are created for them. Welfare won't do it. Nothing will truly be theirs unless they themselves earn it.
