I admire all of the brave men and women who serve their country through military service. Regardless of my personal feelings of the military actions we undertake as a country, I support the troops in as many ways as I can. With that being said, I think death of a soldier in a military zone is different than the deaths caused by a troubled student on a campus devoted to learning. I hope all troops deployed to war make it home safely and for the ones that will never return, I'll honor them daily in ways that would probably mean more to them than a flag flying at half-staff. EDIT: After reading some responses, it seems like people feel if you vote "no" it means you don't respect or admire our soldiers. That's not the case. The questions compares tragic observances like VTech with the death of a soldier in combat zones. Saying "No" to this poll doesn't mean you hate the military or the freedoms they protect.

No financial compensation beyond a standard policy if even that much. While the event is tragic, there is an inherent risk that we all take every day of our lives. I would like to see the university consider an appropriate memorial for the victims (living & dead) but that is about all you can expect outside of donations.

The music industry exists to help promote artists and distribute their music. Now, social networks (ie MySpace) can promote the artist and P2P allows for distribution. The entertainment industry is just mad that they can no longer control the rules of the game. Instead of enslaving any mediocre artists to unfair record deals and reaping billions, they have to actually find quality musicians that can produce a CD with more than 1 good song to even have a SHOT at selling a their product. It's about time that the music, movie, and book publishing industries realize their days as "middle-men" are over. Artists will finally be able to focus on their art and be directly rewarded based on the quality of their product instead of what pennies the industry funnels down.

In prior elections, it felt like the vote was for the "least bad" candidate. Regardless of the outcome, I feel like both parties finally served up quality candidates this year.

I think parents should take their kids to visit a half-way home or foster home so the kids can get a feel for their alternative living arrangements. I think most of the spoiled kids would re-think their actions if they had a chance to see how nice their life is compared to the harsh realities that other kids face on a daily basis.
