and said : I love the spin on that video. I agree with the underlying message here... not that our kids must learn Spanish, but that our children should be educated in more than one language. As the ACTFL points out: "studies have demonstrated the benefits of second language learning not only on student's linguistic abilities but on their cognitive and creative abilities as well". So many other countries start children off at an early age in multilingual studies, so why is it that in America foreign language studies are so neglected?

I agree that when looking at the actual vote counts Obama's win looks less impressive, but it still gives his campaign a bit of momentum and some concrete results. Iowa is a red state, so it's no surprise that the republicans gathered most of the total votes. Overall we can't make a whole lot of judgments based on these results since Iowa is so slanted. After New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, and maybe some more, then we might start to develop a trend.

and said : I'll go with 1 and 4. I enjoy hip hop that is innovative and isn't shallow and superficial, which eliminates 99% of the mainstream and leaves the largely unnoticed underground / independent hip hop.

No... ska will never die!
and said : The mainstream has certainly lost its appeal for ska, but there are still some great bands keeping it alive. Streetlight Manifesto, and Mustard Plug both released new albums late this year and even The Toasters and The Skatalites had new releases!

and said : I thought it was very good, but I really like movies that don't necessarily follow the hollywood formula and have well developed characters. This definitely isn't a mass market movie, and may disappoint people expecting all loose ends to be tied up by the ending.
