and said : I'm pretty sure that there's life elsewhere, but I'm not convinced that the picture is of a fossil, nor does the story you cite actually say that it's a picture of a fossil. It just says it might be, and that there's no way of knowing from such a photo.

I think that...
and said : This is not caused by either liberals or conservatives -- it is caused by a lot of anti-intellectual Americans who won't trust teachers to run their educational systems. Were teachers to set curricula, methods of teaching, etc., we would see some mix that might actually help kids learn. However, as long as most Americans don't really, in their heart of hearts, value a good education, their kids won't see why they have to bother learning anyway.

I'm sure an actual biological scientist can and will answer your question down below somewhere -- it will have to do with simple cells and systems all developing simultaneously or so I would guess.

and said : Train travel is very civilized, because it makes us slow down just a little, and is way more eco-friendly than planes or cars. However, I think fixing bridges and roads is probably number one one the list, with trains (particularly high-speed rail for crowded corridors) is a close number two.

and said : I am a war protester, although not an active out there one anymore -- I did my marching in the 60s. But I found this so hard to believe that I googled it -- and here it is, at the White House web site. http://www.whitehouse.gov/new... I noticed, in my googling, that Olbermann actually did a special comment on this when Bush signed it, so it didn't go unnoticed. I don't like it, but I doubt it could be applied to a run of the mill protester.
