and said : I went hitchhiking when I was a youngin' (at the ripe old age of 20). A friend and I met some elderly gentleman at a beach in Narragansett RI, and he drove us to Wickford. I actually hitchhiked a few times back at school, on the East coast. Luckily nobody had any rope, weapons, bad intentions, etc. I wouldn't pick up anyone here (Los Angeles), or hitchhike myself because it really does seem like all the crazy people migrate here...

and said : i choose not to reinforce racially charged social constructions. at the same time, it's important to realize that we live in such a marginalized world, where people are so quick to label what they think they know... and shun and negate what they don't know or understand... and contrary to popular belief, not all stereotypes are true: not all black people have rhythm (e.g. just look at oprah), and not all latin women are easy.
