and said : The site says she is "Race Obsessed". I guess Martin Luther King was too. Oh well, somebody has to put some of that weight on their shoulders; otherwise it will never be lifted. (And evidently, race relations is still a burden needing lifting.) I appreciate honesty. After all, one cannot change what one cannot acknowledge. I'm not saying she's racist... just racial. (Big difference) Nor am I saying that she needs to change... I do believe however, that if more people were openly honest of their views of one another, we would then have a base on which to work out our ideologies to best benefit each other. I also think people need to stop throwing stones at those who are interested in their own "race". Especially when the term "African-American" (...American meaning having all civil rights of an American) hasn't really been around all that long. OK. Here comes one of my views that probably nobody will want to take the time to look into... but I'm sure many people are aware of the following: My mom is "white" (Irish & Brittish & German), dad's "black", and I've been "stuck" in the middle. It's really like nothing else. I love every part of me that made me who I am, and there should be nothing wrong with that. If I were "just white" though, it would be looked at differently if I were to say I were "white & proud", compared to "black & proud". This is, I believe, mainly due to America's history. "White & proud" was associated with groups who believed in supremacy over other races. (Also, think "Hitler"); whereas "Black & proud" was associated to those striving not to claim supremacy, and actually, not equality alone... (controversial, I know) but self-importance. Today, such a divide is many times seen as a "Good vs. Evil". So... when using a phrase connected through history to "evil", one must be careful to make apparent that superiority is not what is driving their statements. (White & Proud). Also, when using a phrase connected through history to "good", one must also take into consideration another's plausible feeling of being unfairly painted as evil, and make sure that the context is consistent with the intent. (Black & Proud)

But it would help those who took it upon themselves to learn, and in the meantime gain an edge in the work force. I mean why not?
