and said : The Scientologists on the net - most of which are well-meaning people who have been duped into this con, jump up and down spouting the party line they've been fed, often quoting it word for word. You don't notice when it's just one or two people but once when you hear 10 different people say exactly the same sentence as an answer, it's a little creepy. Basically, their brainwashing becomes obvious. It's not our problem - it's theirs. But God help them if they ever try to leave their church. They also love to say that there's this big "conspiracy" against scientology - like anyone would care that much! But the church tells them that THE WHOLE WORLD is against scientology cos it *cough* ... "helps people too much" and THE WHOLE WORLD especially THE PSYCHIATRISTS don't want to help people get better!!!! Imagine studying medicine for all those years and yet not wanting to help people. Wow. You'd think they'd be in a different profession. Anyway, that's how they justify the fact that every exterior source condemns scientology, in fact the only people who don't condemn scientologists are - guess what - other scientologists!! Let's cut the crap here - once you put all the info FROM the Church of Suckerology together (not from "ANTI-sites") EVEN THEN the con becomes obvious. It's not one thing in particular - it's everything when you put it together, which is why all the courts who've done just that have thrown it out and declared it a con. Problem is the members have been brainwashed - the famous auditing sessions as well as the individual exercises are TEXTBOOK hypnosis methods. Perhaps what's most interesting about scientology is how thorough the brainwashing is set up to be. It doesn't let up for a second. Anyone who knows anything about hypnosis can see through the scientology "methods" in an instant. So we aren't going to get through to the scientologists we meet on the net - they are hypnotised. They couldn't think for themselves even if they wanted to - and as with any hypnosis they don't themselves realise that they've been changed. Logic doesn't get though to them - the inconsistencies that we point out in scientology don't get through to them. They just think we're "being mean" to them. :-) The scientology OT courses that are on Wikileaks as we speak (as of March 2008) - and all over the internet by now are genuine. I'm quite sure the CoS HAS told its members that they're "not genuine" . However when the OT texts were first released, the church sued for copyright infringement. That's right. Not slander, or misrepresentation or anything else which would mean they weren't genuine - but copyright infringement. I.E : "You took something that I made". By their own admission - the texts are real. The site in question turned round and thanked them for confirming their accuracy. Next thing we know, all you little scientologists are informing us that you've been told they're not genuine. Those texts in the hands of a non brainwashed person are clearly the writings of a schizophrenic and anyone reading them "cold" would definitely decide not to join the church. I do suggest you don't do the exercises though - since they are a form of self-hypnosis. As I said - the scientologists are a lost cause - they've already been brainwashed, it's too late for them. Even if by some miracle, they did change their mind and tried to leave the church - they would come up against a lot of obstacles. However people considering scientology should read up on it thoroughly before walking in off the street and just allowing an auditor to hypnotise them. Hypnosis is a very powerful and subtle thing. It might also be a good idea to read up on hypnosis thoroughly too - so you can spot all the attempts to hypnotise you. :-) L.Ron, trying to deathstare a tomato.

and said : I think that death at the very least marks the end of individual consciousness.That you as "person X" ceases to be. And no it does not scare me. I am willing to consider that the materials as well as the energy that animates you becomes part of something else, but it doesn't seem likely to me that it would "remember" being part of person X. Whether this is the case or not still doesn't scare me. Just as the materials that eventually led to compose you were created "in the heart of a star" as people poetically like to put it, these materials would continue to exist, just as part of something else. I don't know whether the existence would be conscious or not and I don't mind either way. My individual consciousness would be long gone anyway.

and said : Totally. Annoying. Turns me into a psycho when they try to manipulate me. Also humourous threads that they just can't have a sense of humour about. Friend of mine posted a question "How do I get to OT 7?". Hilarious. Got rained down on by sciento-loonies who could not see the funny side and got nasty right away. They totally got their asses pwned but it was annoying that they tried to make what would've been a 5 minute joke into some big war, especially when no-one really gives a shit about scientology!

and said : Sort of. I can't sleep until I'm exhausted and start to drop. It's probably the reason I read so much when I was a kid. I used to sit with the door open for a crack of light and read until I was ready to pass out. Any less than that, and I'd be lying in bed, eyes wide open, my mind bubbling away, getting more and more awake. I'm fine now because - mercifully, I am self-employed, and not only can I sleep when I want to but It's also an advantage since I'm not "programmed" to go to sleep every night at the same time I can work through the night and day for a deadline if I have to. Getting up for work at 9am every day would've put me in an early grave, I'm positive of it. Being able to sleep when I want to means that I don't "suffer" from insomnia, it doesn't even feel like a sleep disturbance, just the way I'm made.
